The IACS was created in 1913, and 100% was set at the conductivity of the annealed commercially pure copper of the day, but processing techniques have improved since then and so commercially pure copper products now often have IACS conductivity values greater than 100%. This is because they can now remove more impurities from the metal. The number in the quiz is for essentially pure metal. |
