Well, all the sources I've checked say 200 nautical miles. If you can find a reliable source that says 10 miles, then post the link.

regardless, your quiz is faulted by the fact that several territories of the UK are not included. Just for example, Gibraltar should mean that Spain and Morocco are included in your quiz.......

Well, on most sporcle quizzes, territories are not included. However, I did think about including them as bonuses, since the UK uses and fishes in their waters. If you think I should, vote this comment up, and if you think I shouldn't, vote this comment down.

@Jam1: A nation has territorial rights for twelve miles off of its shores. The 200 miles you used refer to the exclusive economic zone, which grant economic and exploratory rights only and are not considered part of the sovereign territory of the state.

And so if you're going to use EEZ as the definition for your "sea borders," then you must include territories as those are included in EEZ (which is why France has the second largest EEZ in the world behind only the United States).

OK, I've added them as bonuses.

Countries only have rights to a much smaller area of sea and the reason is that as many points (e.g Spain and Morocco) have extremly narrow gaps between them. From spain to mainland Africa there is a gap of a meer 7.7 miles much less than the 200 miles you have suggested.

@awesomeguy: If the gap between countries is less than 400 miles then they split it in half, 3.85 miles each for Spain and Morocco. The EEZ of countries is definitly 200 miles.

Check out my games on EEZ of France and the USA. I didn't see you'd done this one before I made these.

@chipmunkdavis: Norway counts because of the Shetland islands-closer to norway than they are to Scotland. however, I thought that the distance between the Shetlands and Iceland would still be greater than the distance between Lowestoft and Sweden.
