@Hamburger: True, but I am not counting territories. I included French Guiana as it is not actually a territory of France, it is a full and proper part of the country.

Latin should definitely be on the list. That's why they call it Latin America, duh.

Read the game note on the front page, so what do I try first? Chinese, of course. Tell me not try it, will ya, Sporcle...

I feel so stupid now that I know I've been mispelling Portuguese all this time. I kind of panicked near the end, so for some reason, I thought it was a good idea to enter Indonesian (which I'm pretty sure isn't a language), Arabic, Japanese, and, of course, Chinese.

Guarani I did know, but couldn't spell. Aymara I truly had no knowledge of. I'm guessing that Paraguayan would not be a suitable thing to accept for Guarani?

I started entering French, Dutch and English, thinking all the while that this quiz was about
African
languages, only to realize that they're all official South American languages too!

Wow, I'm a Spanish teacher and professional linguist, and I even knew Quechua and Tupi-Guarani, but I've never heard of Aymara. Google, here I come! Good quiz.

I got Guarani from look up Paraguay during the world cup and Quechua thanks to Civ IV. Unfortunately watching sports and playing computer games didn't help with Aymara, though maybe once Civ V comes out?

If people like Cortez tried a little bit harder centuries ago, I am sure I had all the answers right, since there weren't any native language speakers left. ;)

@Klaus - Anyone who knows that Suriname used to be called Dutch Guiana would have know to try Dutch (of course, just knowing about Aruba being Dutch might have warranted a guess...

MovieDynamic, it seems you just try to say the exact thing on every quiz that gets you voted down as much as possible. Has anyone else noticed this? Why is that? On topic, I got the five most guessed languages. Honestly, I just guessed common european languages until I ran out of time, because besides Spanish and Portuguese, I really had no idea :D

I still don't like that France is a South American country. I think it's just jealousy more than anything. Damn Britain and it's failed Empire. I want to be on two continents.

Nice quiz, I got them all right : ) One correction though, Guaraní is usually spelled "Guaraní", with an í on the end.
