| Even though Israel and Jordan technically do not "border" the Red Sea, I can see including them because they do border a body of water (the Gulf of Aqaba) that is really just an appendage of the Red Sea. I don't think, however, that the same can be said of Somalia. The Red Sea extends in the south all the way to the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which is situated between Djibouti and Yemen. By the time you get to Somali waters, you are already in the Gulf of Aden. And, unlike the Gulf of Aqaba, you can't say that the Gulf of Aden is an appendage of the Red Sea. Saying that Somalia borders the Red Sea is like saying that Greece borders the Black Sea. |
