Not all those movies are acronyms, in fact most of them are. When the letters are pronounced as a word, like SWAT or MASH, that's an aronym. If they're pronounced one letter at a time like ET or AI, then they're waht's known as initialism.

According to Webster's Dictionary, the word acronym also covers initialisms: : "a word (as NATO, radar, or laser) formed from the initial letter or letters of each of the successive parts or major parts of a compound term; also : an abbreviation (as FBI) formed from initial letters"
