Did King (who had a number 2 hit with "Love and Pride" in 1984) not go platinum?

5ive isn't exactly a playing card either.

Juror8: Luckily for my quiz they are only gold-certified, not platinum. I know because I too thought it might have messed up my idea for that last one, so researched it before submitting! alastor: I was in two minds about whether to make it "Five" so the card was correct and the band name was simply un-"stylised" (as wikipedia would put it). That would have been the most correct. However, I did always like that they wrote their band name like that so I couldn't resist! ;)

What is the bonus set?

Let's see, for the bonus set I've got: Not a band? Doesn't have club? Doesn't have a world capital? Not one of those three?

The not one of those three clues is a bit vague, maybe explain it in the instructions? Good quiz though

A "5ive" is definitely not a playing card.

Given the minute time limit, maybe something shorter than London Golf Club and Tokyo Police Club to move to the next rows?

I admit this isn't a perfect quiz, I guess that's part of the charm of it for me. The "not one of those three?" was always difficult to describe and an editor helped me with that, FWIW I think his wording is solid. I deliberately made the bonus row longish words so that the time limit would be more challenging. I appreciate that may not be to everyone's taste. As for the controversial "5ive", I know it's not really correct and that "Five" would be legitimate even for the act's name but, as I explained above, I always liked that way of writing that band so, for better or worse, it stays!! ;)

To answer Juror8's archived question, "Love and Pride" by the band King was certified Gold in the UK, but not Platinum. Therefore the answer in this quiz is correct.

@angel31342 - Its the NATO phonetic alphabet. Each letter has a word corresponding to it so if someone is calling a code over the radio they use the NATO alphabet so the person at the other end doesn't mishear them e.g. A-Alpha B-Bravo C-Charlie D-Delta etc..

I'm going to print off a picture of a hand and put it on my wall so I have something to high five after finishing these blitz quizzes. For the moment I'm stuck with an overwhelming internal discomfort because there's nowhere to release this pent up high five energy.

I would recommend NOT showing the first clue on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th category until you can type it in. I spent some time trying to get Amelie to take before noticing a second clue had opened in the first box.

I know that this is a quiz page, but I just want to congratulate Sporcle on 1,000,000,000 plays. I know that you have given us all such wonderful times of procrastination since you started, and that I am only a recent addition to the Sporcle family, having joined officially not long over a year ago, but by golly Sporcle, it's been wonderful.

@kirbyk - Glad I wasn't the only one. I didn't even get to the last column because it took me so long to figure out there was another question in the first column.

Consider using 'masculine' instead of 'male' when referring to the names.
