Apparently, on the US to UK spellings people were explaining that they do not spell it Encyclopaedia so it has been changed to Archaeology.

I'm not sure that "catalog" is the most common spelling in the US; I learned it the other way.

I had learned Encyclopedia, but I'd rather spell it with the "ae". Also, for Linux, catalog is the American English spelling, though it's true that it's fairly interchangeable.

In the US we definitely spell archaeology with the second A. I just verified this with my (New York) college's archaeology department's website.

After doing a bit of research I have found that Archeology is definitely used in the USA but so is Archaeology. I will find a replacement word.

Ok Archaeology has been changed to Kerb. I have multiple dictionaries and sources that say it IS USED. If they all happen to be wrong... let me know.

"Catalog" is not so much American as modernized spelling; when I was growing up it was never spelled any way but "Catalogue."
