Woops, I must of been thinking Sudan when I entered Jordan. I believe that since all people who live in the Vatican are from Italy, they compete for Italy.

Burma should be acceptable for Myanmar, CAr for Central African Republic and DRC for Democratic Republic of the Congo I prefer to call Myanmar Burma because the military regime changed the name against international law

Vatican City does not have an Olympic committee and has never participated in an Olympic Games. Isn't Cape Verde missing from this list?

And in 2008 there was talk about the US being upset that China would bypass the US in a medal counting (with 4 times as many people)?

64/69. Missed DRC, CAR and all the Sts. That really does need changing. Poor Monaco though, they'll win a medal one day!

South Sudan should NOT be added - they've not had the chance to compete in an Olympics yet, neither had Vatican City!

Really need some alternative answers on this. Typing out the whole Democratic Republic of the Congo is quite tiring, particularly if it occurs to you straight after Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. St Vincent, St Lucia, DRC, CAR, please!

If you are going for an alphabetical order, please put cyprus amongst the "C", Democratic Republic of the Congo amongst "D" and Republic of the Congo amongst "R". Oh, and my compliments towards the Pope, since he seems to have participated in any Olympic game and even won a medal.

Been over 2 years since it was said, but common Sporcle abbreviations really need to be added to this.

@hoipoi: the quiz instructions specifically state that a country is included if it has competed in at least one Olympics in the past without winning a medal, even if it does not currently exist as a country - in fact half the fun was using the alphabetical order to work out which former countries (or territories which have never been independent countries) were in there.

Sorry but there's some issues with this. Firstly, many of these have never been countries so the title is wrong. It looks like you've added non-countries without remembering to change the title. Secondly, I missed Democratic Republic of the Congo as you've put it after Dominica. Thirdly, Crete should not be there as the IOC no longer counts the 1906 competition.
