Great quiz! Perhaps I'll move to one of these to ride the economy out? Geneva or bust! Also, quiz will not accept "Tokyo".

What the hell is "Tokyo, Japan, tokyo"? Because I think that's what made me get an answer wrong.

A source with actual numbers, rather than just ranks, would improve this quiz greatly.

Cool quiz idea: Translate a single phrase into 30 different languages. Can you identify the language? http://www.sporcle.com/games/ZapRowsdower/foreign_language

I like the concept, but the source is flawed, since only 73 "selected" cities were included in the survey. That means that a lot of really rich cities don't show up because they weren't measured. For instance, where's Monte Carlo? Also, the "basket of goods" used to measure wealth was "based on Western European consumer preferences". I like this quiz for fun but I have to seriously question the research.

Yes, yes, we're all ticked about the quiz's creator fudging up one of the most guessed answers. This is not sarcasm. I really am enraged that I typed in Tokyo at least twice, and had a mental reaction of "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?!?!"

I'm more surprised that Miami is on than I am that Dubai isn't. And since I did the European capitals quiz about 20 minutes ago, I should have known that Luxembourg is also a city. D'oh!

What? No San Francisco/San Jose, but Miami? Thought Seattle, Vancouver, Boston or DC would make it. Forgot about Scanadavia and the 3 Low Country cities. Interesting that France and the UK are out, as well as Canada, and no shocking cities in less wealthy countries such as Dubai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Moscow, Milan, or St Petersburg.

Bad source. Without knowing which cities are on the list (Miami, Chicago) and which richer cities are not on the list (SF Bay Area, Boston) it's impossible to tell.

so, what's the logic behind people's guesses on this quiz?? just name a bunch of cities you think rich people live in?

It should specify whether it is U.S. cities only, or worldwide, before you take it.

This quiz needs to specify what it means. I was at first under the impression it was total personal earnings for a city and hence cities with larger populations would surely feature. Now I suspect it is average personal earnings. Surely this explains why Dublin features and London does not...

copenhagen? their wages, if that is the measure here, are not so high. their benefits are generous to a fault. if this survey counts in those benefits, probably so. to rate denmark against countries that have a different balance of wages to benefits is apples and oranges.

@Geo crazy - You would consider Singapore a less wealthy country? It has one of the highest GDP's in the world and is 'richer' than the UK. Still, i'm quite shocked that London doesn't feature, especially considering it's consistently ranking in the top 3 most expensive cities to live in the world.

@steesh182: London is 21st. Dubai is 36th.... Yeah, it is average personal earnings; allowing places which are employee friendly, such as Geneva, Switzerland can be ranked higher. I do agree that it should say it's average earnings, sorry about that; i can't edit it now either.

I'm continuously amazed that Macau never makes any of these quizzes. I guess the problem lies in distinguishing what Macau actually is (i.e. country, city, autonomous region?). I guess someone should make a "Special Administration Regions With the Most Casinos" quiz.

@speedbird, I would be interested to see what would happen to London if they took all 3 parts separately, as I think 'the city' (as we call it) is probably being dragged down by the other 2. It would only be for curiosity reasons as for quiz purposes it is always taken as a singular city.

@lulubelles Does anyone actually live in "the city"? I think London is dragged down because of the sharp drop in sterling this year! However I'd like to add that I think it's slightly flawed. I live in Belgium and yes my wages are higher than they'd be in the UK but my tax bill is also higher ao it all evens out. As for Copenhagen being number 1, I do believe Denmark has an even higher rate of taxation than Belgium. Remember, you can earn a million pounds p.a. but if you have a 99% tax bill you will only see £10,000 of that!
