The rock hyrax looks like it's about to kill something. And it's got the name for it lol.

Honestly, every time I look at that thing, I think of Quest of the Holy Grail- "Big, sharp, pointy teeth!"

I liked this quiz, but the Rock Hyrax is not a rodent, it's a hyracoid.

as mhort says, hyrax is not a rodent. Order Hyracoidea. Their closest relatives are elephants and manatees. See U of Michigan's website on Animal Diversity. Otherwise, nice quiz.

Can't believe I typed Naked Mole but not the last word. Perhaps replace the Hyrax with a Jerboa (which I was sure #3 was).

I love how everyone sees a chipmunk and they think it's cute and when they see a rat (which is pretty closely related) it's the most disgusting thing in the world.

perhaps make this one where you have to guess in order. I just typed in a few rodent names not knowing which picture they were.

My apologies about the Hyrax- I'll change it out here shortly. I would have done it sooner, but (and this is, perhaps, the strangest sentence you'll hear this year) my courthouse was on fire this morning. Amazing work by the fire fighters- go hug one for me.

Hejman I went to hug a fire fighter and unfortunately things got a bit nasty ! I'll be appearing in what's left of your courthouse on Monday !!

You'll have to cross the police tape to get in Flick- I haven't even been back in except to grab one or two things from the clerk's office in the front of the building. They were still putting out hot spots in the building next door just a few minutes ago (16 hours after the fire started).

The star-nosed mole is actually in the family Talpidae and not a rodent at all.

I'm not a fan of rodents at all, but capybaras are some of the cutest things on the planet. I worked at a zoo for one summer, and the area I worked in was directly above where they kept the llamas, swans, and capybaras... it was the most adorable trio of completely different animals I've ever seen.

Let's not forget, Dude, that keeping wildlife, an amphibious rodent, for uh, domestic, you know, within the city, that ain't legal either.

I know that somehow these critters are all related, but some are so cute and others give me chills. And to think I have a naked mole rat in my yard right now. Great quiz.

ahhh totally typed kangaroo mouse are you jousting with me? D: Muskrats apparently are a close relative of the GRIZZLY. And Coypus are RoUS's. And I always thought groundhogs were gophers but they're different. I have learned much this day.

Thanks, googlebird. I was surprised at how visually pleasing this quiz turned out to be- especially since it was inspired by a squirrel that nearly attacked me while walking to work.

^ Probably because we weren't expecting a porcupine to be in a tree. And forgot they were rodents.
