It's kind of creepy, but kid Hitler actually looks pretty similar to adult Hitler, more so than most of the people shown here before adolescence.
Nov 8th, 2011 at 04:08 GMT
@hscer- I don't think it's so much the resemblance to his adult self as it is the fact that he's creepy and evil looking even as a kid.

I'm impressed with Mao's dedication to that haircut.
Nov 8th, 2011 at 04:11 GMT
@Hejman That too. Now I'm reminded of that Billy Mumy role in the Twilight Zone for some reason.

I never knew Tony Blair used to be the lead singer for the Stones
Nov 8th, 2011 at 12:01 GMT
Some were obvious, like Hitler and Putin, some were very surprising, like Blair. Wow, he's changed a lot since his youth.
Nov 8th, 2011 at 12:56 GMT
For some reason I thought Putin was Hitler. However once Hitler appeared for another photo I realised it was Putin

The takeaway here: Facial hair makes you look different.

Never in a hundred years would I have gotten Castro.
Nov 8th, 2011 at 22:46 GMT
Blair is the best LOL he's too funny in this pic!!
Nov 9th, 2011 at 02:37 GMT
I thought Castro looked like Nicolas Cage. I really liked the variety.

Good to see Condoleezza Rice is supporting Movember.

I think you should accept "Pope Benedict" for Ratzinger, no?
Nov 9th, 2011 at 15:05 GMT
@Hejman I'd just add clarity on George Bush, so it's clear that it isn't the senior Bush. Excellent idea, I'd be all in favor of more of these. (see Henry Kissinger on left http://www.nnhs65.com/famous-soldiers/kissinger-kraemer.jpg, Charles Darwin http://www.proof-of-evolution.com/image-files/charles-darwin-aged-7-wcpd.jpg, the Dalai Lama http://thehumanpostcard.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/2009_02_08_dalai_lama_enfant.jpg)

I thought Arafat was black, so I kept typing 'X' and 'King'
Nov 9th, 2011 at 18:02 GMT
Yasser Arafat was quite attractive as a kid. I mean, those eyebrows! He could have had a successful career in Hollywood.
I second the request to accept "pope benedict."
Nov 9th, 2011 at 19:30 GMT
Awesome quiz. Think you ought to accept "Showa" for Hirohito, since that's his posthumous name and how the Japanese now refer to him.
Nov 9th, 2011 at 21:05 GMT
Thanks for the suggestions! I had "Showa Emperor" and "Emperor Showa" but not "Showa" on its own. I also had "Benedict" and "Pope Benedict the XVI" but not "Pope Benedict" without the number. I've added both suggested alternates.

The big surprise for me here was Margaret Thatcher. But it made sense when I saw the name come up -- just look at that linebacker's neck, and the expression in her eyes. The Iron Lady in waiting...

Putin looks like Macaulay Culkin! lol

And here I thought Mother Teresa was Arya Stark.
Nov 11th, 2011 at 04:08 GMT
seriously thought nelson mandela was MLK
Nov 11th, 2011 at 19:25 GMT
Note that Stalin, Hitler and Mao all kept the same hairstyle. Putin wisely chose to lose his.
Nov 13th, 2011 at 16:37 GMT
Cameron looks like he needs a slap. (You can draw your own concusion on whether I mean in this picture or right now.)
Nov 13th, 2011 at 23:22 GMT
I was just giving up when I looked at the blond girl and thought, omygod! that's Hillary Clinton!!! Then the time ran out. Stalin looks like the wacko creep he is in that picture. And David Cameron is adorable in that picture!
Nov 14th, 2011 at 21:46 GMT
I'm pretty sure the photograph labeled Mother Teresa is actually St. Therese of Lisieux: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Therese (under the heading "Early Years" also, http://www.humanflowerproject.com/index.php/weblog/comments/st_theresa_helicopters_for_the_little_flower/ As one of the Doctors of the Catholic Church, she definitely still fits into the "kid leader" category, but it should be identified as her instead.
Nov 15th, 2011 at 02:45 GMT
I think Fidel Castro actually kind of looks like George W Bush.
Nov 16th, 2011 at 03:50 GMT
Thanks, amm245, I was just abt to say the same thing. Definitely Therese Martin (aka the Little Flower), not Agnes Bojaxhiu (aka Mother Teresa).
Nov 16th, 2011 at 07:03 GMT
Cameron and Ratzinger were uber-cute. Bush looked the same, Castro had a Hispanic hotness and Putin still looked like psychopathic Dobby the House-Elf.
Nov 16th, 2011 at 14:39 GMT
@amm245- That's disappointing. That same photo is identified in other locations (http://www.geteasyway.com/Article/ViewArticle.aspx?de0RnTIa58w=) at Mother Teresa. I'll find another photo of her.
Nov 16th, 2011 at 22:44 GMT
Here's a link to a picture of youngish Mother Teresa: http://acelebrationofwomen.org/?p=71292

@steeltown- Sent that new image to the admins on Thursday. Hopefully it'll get uploaded soon. Thanks so much for the link.

I also thought Castro was Bush. I could've sworn that photo of Mao was of a woman. Rice and Clinton were very easy to get. Stalin looks like Paul McCartney.

Hitler is Damien from the Omen.

Tony Blair was a roadie for U2 circa "The Joshua Tree".

I would've sworn that Castro was G. W. Bush.

The quiz creators don't get to pick the front page text that goes with published quizzes, but I had to chuckle when I saw that the admins put the phrase, "Picture some of these folks with facial hair, apparently not shaving helps lead the world" next to a picture of Hilary Clinton on the front page. Not sure if that was intentional or accidental, but it still made me laugh. Hope you all enjoy the quiz!

You may wish to specify which George Bush that is. Looks like (HW to me...)
