Hejman, this is brilliant! The Cadillac one was killing me and it makes so much sense now. If anyone misses Level 3 Communications, you've got a problem.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:02 GMT
This is a great quiz. LTH, I think I have a problem.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:07 GMT
awesome! great job hejman! hated it but loved it at the same time
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:12 GMT
Thanks, LTH, leppyfresh and thegrimreaper. The love/hate thing is precisely what I was going for. You know you know these, but yet they're just out of reach of your brain. Kind of like how I feel most of the time I'm Sporcling.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:32 GMT
Wow, Hejman, brilliant. I had to think so hard until so many of them clicked, and I was so confused wondering why Marlo Thomas was telling me about breast cancer for a while. One little thing, 1:28-1:34 needs to be hyphenated.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:37 GMT
Am I the only one who didn't know half these voice-overs were celebrities until now?
Jul 13th, 2010 at 04:41 GMT
Thanks, sproutcm- I'll go fix that (by the way, this is in your section!). Kazbar- I didn't know some of them either until I started putting this quiz together. IMDB verified almost all of them and a few news stories verified the others.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 08:37 GMT
Really terrific quiz, and it's just begging for a sequel; I know there are more commercials that can be used. (I can think of a few other celebrity voiceovers off the top of my head, and given that I didn't know most of these until I took this quiz, there're probably hundreds.)
Jul 13th, 2010 at 15:43 GMT
Finally, a quiz that takes advantage of my singular talent for spotting voiceover artists and voice actors! Now if only I had some ACTUAL talents, I'd be all set.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 15:50 GMT
Now that I see the answers, I feel so silly for missing the ones that I did! Also, I feel like I would've gotten Mandy Patinkin if he'd been speaking in a Spanish accent (and telling me to prepare to die).
Jul 13th, 2010 at 17:14 GMT
I had no idea Duracell and Aflac were voiceovers by actors! This quiz is AWESOME!!! I echo others who want MORE :-) Also, today is Patrick Stewart's birthday- silly coincidence perhaps but happy birthday, you're in a Sporcle quiz.

0:55 : "Hmm...sounds like Sideshow Bob...no idea..." ARGH!
Jul 13th, 2010 at 20:35 GMT
the disney audio was screwed up for me could mostly hear the background music.
Jul 13th, 2010 at 20:46 GMT
Many thanks for the kind words. The Disney audio is just loud- that's the way the original commercial was because the voice over is over top of fireworks. Fortunately, toward the end the voice comes through more. There are definitely plenty of voices out there for a sequel and I'll hopefully find some time in the coming weeks to do that. Finding these clips is a real challenge. @janet- no matter how many times I listen to that Crestor commercial, 'growing a sixth finger' is not one of the side effects. @deej- Having Sideshow Bob do voice overs for Disney makes me chuckle all the time.

Love this quiz - nominated! Although, how in the hell did I miss James Earl Jones??? The man has one of the most recognisable (and awesome) voices ever!
Jul 14th, 2010 at 00:53 GMT
Oh! That reminds me- if you like the Jones clip, check out this Youtube link, which users that sound track and clips from Star Wars to make a "Darth Vader for Verizon" as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8ti3kYrPSQ . And thanks, sexysadie, for the kind words about the quiz.
Jul 14th, 2010 at 01:01 GMT
top notch top notch!!!
Jul 14th, 2010 at 03:40 GMT
Excellent! Five globes & nominated! A couple drove me nuts and many I didn't even know were celebrities until I listened to them on here. Great job.
Jul 14th, 2010 at 05:22 GMT
Seems that everything to be said already has been, so I'll just say awesome work.
Jul 14th, 2010 at 15:36 GMT
What are the odds that George Clooney has had a Bud in his hand since college? Biggest shock: Duracell. I had no idea Jeff Bridges' voice was so danged sexy.
Jul 14th, 2010 at 19:49 GMT
Great game, even though I did lousy. But I would have sworn the last one was Jorge Garcia...
Jul 15th, 2010 at 01:37 GMT
great quiz. and i couldn't get julia roberts. i just didn't sound like her, to me that is. again, though, excellent quiz.

I often drive my wife crazy by yelling out during commercials, "Hey! I think that's _____." Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm not, but if you've ever had that feeling then hopefully you'll enjoy this quiz. (Note for non-North American users, these are all commercials that aired in the U.S. and Canada.) There are probably enough celebrities that I've left out for me to do a sequel if you'd all like one. Hope you enjoy it!
Jul 15th, 2010 at 05:06 GMT
I really enjoyed this quiz. I was pretty familiar with most of these soundbites, but had no idea they were voice overs by clebrities, such as the budweiser and duracell. I could have sworn BMW was Christopher Plummer, but the answer makes perfect sense. I hope there is more to come.

One thing I don't need more of: commercials.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 05:20 GMT
Good quiz though.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 05:21 GMT
Is it weird that not only did I guess Robert Plant for the Cadillac ad with the very brief snippet of "Rock and Roll" at the beginning, but also that I fully expected it to be an acceptable answer?
Jul 15th, 2010 at 05:26 GMT
"sucK it trebek" "rough, just the way your mother likes it" "moo, thats the sound your mother made last night"... SNL sean connery might be just as enjoyable as real sean connery
Jul 15th, 2010 at 05:33 GMT
I would give this 10 orbs if instead of Verizon there were a clip of James Earl Jones saying nothing but 'Bell Atlantic' - all these years later that's still permanently burned into my head.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 06:02 GMT
awesome quiz. original and fun.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 06:38 GMT
Fun quiz, and it's amazing how much 3:26-3:37 sounds like his brother; I only got that one by going, "Well, that just has to be Beau."
Jul 15th, 2010 at 07:52 GMT
got em all with a minute to spare! i'm taking that as a sign i should go into VO work. ;)
Jul 15th, 2010 at 08:28 GMT
That blew my mind, learning that Jeff Bridges is the voice of those Duracell commercials.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 10:32 GMT
Likewise with Julia Roberts, I never knew that was her that did the AOL stuff.... After all these years
Jul 15th, 2010 at 11:10 GMT
I wonder how many of these celebrities realize that we don't know it's them doing these voices. I also guessed Plant for Cadillac. Is it just me, but does Richard Dreyfus sound amazingly like Matthew Broderick?
Jul 15th, 2010 at 12:08 GMT
You left out the most famous of all: the MasterCard priceless commercials. They are voiced by Billy Crudup.
Jul 15th, 2010 at 12:15 GMT
For the sequel: Mercedes-Benz. Now close your eyes the next time the commercial airs and figure out who it is...
Jul 15th, 2010 at 12:19 GMT
I kept waiting for the commercials to finish so the quiz could begin. (Possible business model for Sporcle?)
Jul 15th, 2010 at 14:36 GMT
Great quiz! My only nitpick is that the clip for Martin Sheen is poor quality and there isn't much voice. But seriously a great quiz!
