Some comments on version II of this quiz called for increased difficulty and use of alternate logos to avoid ones that were just letters. I've done both with this, the final installment of College Sports Logos.

@theBCI- that's correct and that is their new logo. Its newness might explain why its the lowest on the list.

@ohiokid- Not sure what you're referring to. Both 'NC State' and 'NC St' are accepted. In fact, 'NC State' is the displayed answer.

Accept BC, it'd be one thing if you had the BC logo, but you don't so I'd accept BC. Funny how there's 3 Huskies and 2 Wolfpack here lol.

I had no idea what that Bowling Green logo represented. Even when I found out who it was it took me several seconds to see that it was a falcon. Also, I'd still like some insight to the thinking that turned a Cyclone (Iowa State) into a Cardinalclone.

definitely the most difficult of the three. @buckiman1 - i tried Montana for UCLA @GoSkins - that's a widely used logo for BG

@chrisktox- Apparently since you can't personify a cyclone, the team turned to its colors (Cardinal and Gold) and used a cardinal beginning in 1954. They even had a contest to name him- 'Cy'.

Thank you, Hejman! No one has ever explained to me that their colors had some involvement in creating the cardinal image.

@buckiman and Dude- I went as far as to try Morgan State for UCLA, but after a while I finally thought to try UCLA.

re: NC State, I think the issue is that "North Carolina St" is not accepted while "xxx St" is for other schools.

How do you get the images into publication format so quickly? Is there a special know-how, or is it just because you're an editor? If it is the latter, okay. If it is the former, can that be made known?
Hejman

@pita- Oh! Goodness, I can be dense sometimes. 'North Carolina St' is now added. @THEJMAN- Is 'none of the above' an option? Only the admins can do this setup and the pictures have to be put into a special format. I've done enough image quizzes to be able to do the format conversion quickly. Sometimes, though, when there's a series the admins are aware that another installment is coming and will actually load the images in the setup before the quiz is published. That was the case here and happens sometimes with quiz makers who have made lots of image quizzes, whether they're editors or not.

Since you're accepting shortcuts for the other universities, accept 'BGSU' for Bowling Green and 'NIU' for Northern Illinois.

I'm sure it is a correct alternate logo as Hejman says, but I have never seen that for UCLA -- After Cal and Baylor didn't work, I tried Morgan State, Montana, U. of Maine, Central Arkansas, and Belmont... Belmont Bruins finally made me think of UCLA, facepalm.

This conversation was a little further up, but Iowa State's former team name was the Cardinals. When we went to a very highly-ranked Northwestern and won, the newspaper headlines said that a cyclone had swept through. Somehow, the name "Cyclones" stuck, but the mascot remains Cy the Cardinal, thus the amalgamation.
