	@Big_E, the 80s were a forgettable period for the Yankees. After losing to the Dodgers in the 1981 WS, they were in a tailspin that wasn't righted until 1993 or so. I was happy that I was able to enter Orioles. I wish Peter Angelos would look to how The Boss was able to right the sinking ship.

	@Tony - while the Yankees didn't make the playoffs from 1982 through 1994, they were the winningest team of the '80s. I wouldn't call that a tailspin.

	@gwynn19, I was referring more to the state of the team itself and not the w-l. The Boss had 9 different managers during the decade and changed managers during the season 6 times. He called his best player, and probably the best player in the majors at the time, "The most unproductive .300 batter." He constantly meddled and was generally a horse's patootie.

	The Yankees did go into a tailspin in the 80s, it just really didn't catch up to them record-wise until 1989 when they went 74-87 and began a stretch of four years in a row of losing records (including going 67-95 in 1990. Imagine the Yankees losing 95 games today? It seems impossible). The seeds for that stretch from 89 through 92 were sown by the chaos throughout the 80s that Tony_A is talking about.

	Ugh...spent so long on the Tour de France question trying to think of "that Spanish guy's" name (Indurain), that I ignored a) the easy American answer, and b) the fact that Indurain won his Tours in the 90s anyway. :-P

	I think we're just splitting hairs here. I agree that the Yankees began a rough patch in the late 80s that lasted until the mid-90s. I've just always found it an interesting bit of trivia that, despite the conventional wisdom that the Yankees had a "bad" decade in the 80s, they still finished with more wins than any other team. As you can tell from my avatar/name, I would take that kind of "bad" decade in a heartbeat.

	@Funk_in_Trust: to know all the possible answers (e.g. all the Oscar best actors of the '80s) is easy to do via Google. What would be really interesting is to know the percentage of each possible answer: how many of the 70.3% that guessed the World Cup (football/soccer) champions entered Italy (champion in 1982) and how many Argentina (champion in 1986)? Currently there's no way to know this.
