Yes, that's me tickling the ivories. Perhaps, in homage to lt2009's quizzes, I should have called this one, "Famous music (badly played)". Glad to see that those 11 years of piano lessons my parents paid for have come to some use though.

I could list the names of the pieces to make it easier. Not sure where the balance between two hard and too easy is on this one. Feed back is welcome.

No, I don't think you should do that. It would make it way to easy. You might as well not have the recording then.

Thanks Rom for the feedback (which is one word, not two as I wrote it above!). That's why I hid the third column when I put the quiz up.

Piano needs tuning.

That's a good ear, mgmx. The hot, humid weather is on us and the piano is, therefore, in need of tuning. It's not awful, but it's just a touch out of whack. Clearly, you know your music.

have to admit i was excited when i thought it was piano specific, so marginally disappointed it included orchestral reductions. That said still very enjoyable, well done

Good point Robhump- I had originally planned to do it as piano specific but thought it would be too hard for all but the hardcore classical music lovers to pull that off.

I died a little inside when I heard Pachelbel, but aside from that, great quiz!

It's one thing to put an audio quiz together of famous piano pieces. It's entirely another thing to personally play them. Very impressive, Hejman! Bravo!

@Hejman: you're very brave. @heroicphantom: you're very heroic (in a Pyrrhic victory kind of way) @LTH: you're very um...supportive? @Pachelbel: Have you stopped spinning yet ? ;)

@heroicphantom- We'll you've managed to leave both the most hateful and the most hurtful comment that I've seen on Sporcle in one effort. I suppose it's easy to do when hiding behind internet anonymity. Fortunately, I've played for Governors and Supreme Court Justices and they apparently have a better ear for music.

Five orbs for a classical music quiz! I simply don't know pop music, so when one of these comes along, I'm very excited! Not playing the majority of the well-known part of the Beethoven caused me not to get it- that's very sneaky of you. :-P Also, your playing was fine, don't listen to heroicphantom. He/She is an awful speller. And clearly can't make a distinction with fine piano playing on an out of tune piano.

P.S. Was the Pachelbel really necessary? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM

I'm sorry, but you really ought to brush up on your piano skills before recording yourself to post a quiz. Most notably in Mozart's Fantasy in D minor there were several wrong notes in the cadenza, and you took some of the songs too quickly to be tasteful. I enjoyed your song selection, but I would recommend using professional recordings next time.

@LadyBlia- That's an interesting comment for several reasons. First, because you seem to have registered a new account just to make it. Second, because I went back and listened and in fact there are no wrong notes in the Mozart. Third, because there is no cadenza in that piece. The point of the quiz was that it wasn't professional recordings. That was what was supposed to make it fun.

I know you think that you played badly, so I'm not going to criticize you. In fact, I want to commend you for bravely tackling so many pieces with musicality and not with harsh machine-like whacking of the keys. Well done! 16/16, btw :)

I had to stop listening before the quiz was over because the out-of-tuneness was driving me insane!!!!! :(

@Hejman: Here's some thoughts on your game from the new "Classical" Curator in the music category... Bravo! Absolutely loved it! And although I appreciate the store-bought-mint-CD-type recordings as much as the next person, your recording of the music on your own piano made the game SO enjoyable! I've PLAYED out-of-tune pianos, and pianos with dead keys... there's just something about it that makes it FEEL good, and real, and down-home. So thanks for taking the risk to present it to both friends and strangers in this forum.
