	It's interesting that this got published the day after the "Same Sex Marriage States" quiz and on the same day that the Supreme Court agreed to weigh in on the issue of same sex marriage. Way to stay topical, Sporcle!

	@NotThere- Nothing could be further from the truth. The Supreme Court has manned the line between church and state, forced integration of schools and lunch counters, granted the right to court appointed counsel, guarded the right to remain silent, struck down laws governing what people do in their bedrooms, protected the rights of employees to sue their employers, limited executive privilege and nullified laws limiting internet freedoms. Time and again through our history, the Supreme Court has been the common man's only line of defense against the "American ruling class."

	Hmmm, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss @NotThere. An argument can absolutely be made that the Supreme Court has primarily protected the "ruling class." Maybe the ruling class didn't care that much about most of the rulings @Hejman cites, but instead was far more interested in less visible rulings on bankruptcy, property rights, regulatory affairs, intellectual property, etc. Plus, as time goes on, the very liberal Warren Court of the 1960s looks more and more like an aberration and not like the start of a trend. Personally, I tend to be skeptical of this line of thinking because I don't think the "ruling class" is as united as this suggests. But it's a valid point of view with some decent arguments in its favor.

	@david6k: I dunno... even in those areas you mention the Court isn't uniformly "elitist" (whatever that means, I agree that the "ruling class" isn't a unified interest in our country). My specialty is IP, and in that field they're actually pretty mindful of "the little guy." In copyright, they've created and defended a massive fair use right as necessary for freedom of speech, fair use is much broader in the U.S. than in Europe or Japan. In patent, they've tried to limit business method patents and the like to keep things like that from being monopolized. It's usually Congress that passes the special-interest-driven laws. Kinda funny that our appointed Justices are often more democratically-minded than our elected officials, but it's true. P.S. I hope this doesn't turn into a flamewar on Sporcle. This is my fervent plea to everyone reading this not to get angry and offended!

	@yellowdart15 Sotomayor is the first Hispanic on the U.S. Supreme and the third lady. When your the first you normally have notoriety that successor with the same characteristic don't have. How many remember Washington over Adams?

	@Extinctanimals22: Ok, that's a good reason. I just thought that more people would guess Roberts because of the Affordable Care Act decision and Kennedy because of the Time article about him before the decision.
