My memory or ingenuity are probably on strike, but which President's first name was David? Eisenhower's was Dwight, wasn't it?
Apr 7th, 2012 at 14:12 GMT
@shakescene- Eisenhower's birth name was David Dwight, but his parents switched them in order to avoid confusion with his father.

Hiram Ulysses Grant changed his name while at West Point because he did not want his initials to be H.U.G. Leslie King, Jr.'s mother remarried and changed his name to match his stepfather's, Gerald R. Ford. Same thing happened to Sanford Braun when his mom married Irving Koufax. Great quiz!

@rk559: That bit about Grant is a myth. The congressman who nominated him for West Point mistakenly used the name Ulysses Simpson Grant. They wouldn't let him change it, so Grant adopted it, but with "Simpson" shortened to just "S."
