Honey, I shrunk the Truman!

I very much enjoy that Nixon looks like a little girl, with a sweet bowl cut. I, however, don;t like who horrible I did.

I find it amazing how incredibly obvious some of them were, yet for others I STILL didn't see the resemblance after I gave up and saw the answers.

Very interesting quiz, I particularly like how some (JFK) look very similar to their adult pictures.

Grant looks like Billy the Kid, and Wilson like H.P. Lovecraft.

Interesting that Cleveland is in uniform since he hired George Benninsky to take his place following the Conscription Act of 1863.

George W. was raised by a time traveling Ryan Gosling?!

I put these photos together on Saturday and then contributed the game last night. I woke up this morning with a nagging feeling that something was wrong about that Grant photo even though the source claims it is him and it does kind of resemble him. At work this morning I remembered the 1838 Louis Daguerre photo of Paris and that the man standing still in that photo (getting his shoes shined) was the first person ever to be photographed. Ulysses Grant would have been 16 that year. It simply isn't possible that the picture of the young man in that could be Grant. I've just now send the admins a new image file with Grant swapped out for another president. The Cleveland image is possible (He was born in 1837 so that photo could have been taken in the early 1850s) but I can only find it at one source. I'm working to attempt to verify it beyond that one location.

Great quiz. However, I'm puzzled why my guess of Taft was accepted for Grant...

Dare I say... Awwwwww

Did some more web searching to attempt to verify the Cleveland photo. Where else is it found on the web? (You'll never guess... go ahead...) On the now defunct website of Senator Larry Craig. I kid you not. Why a senator from Idaho would have a childhood photo of a president from New York on his website, I can't explain.

How did so many people not get Obama?
Oct 24th, 2011 at 20:48 GMT
Nixon also looks like the 70s Jimmy Connors.

Very interesting quiz!

JFK = Alfred E Neuman

To that 13.1% of people who didn't get Obama, HOW ARE YOU SO STUPID???
Oct 25th, 2011 at 01:16 GMT
I got Taft after thinking, "That guy looks stocky..." Poor Taft. (And JFK is scaring me a little.)

JFK/LBJ pictures--perfect embodiment. TR and Nixon pics on the other hand...
Oct 25th, 2011 at 02:25 GMT
LBJ was born looking old!
Oct 25th, 2011 at 03:02 GMT
Calvin Coolidge looks like what I imagine Joe Dimaggio looked like at that game.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 08:40 GMT
THe picture you have as Cleveland is actually Tad Lincoln, President Lincoln's son.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 09:27 GMT
Absolutely fascinating and terrific quiz. Its so easy to demonize presidents we disagree with (I'm too often guilty of this) and its very interesting to focus on them as children. Although the stupid grin on child W. Bush's face still really really annoys me.

Anyone else think John Krasinski is related to Woodrow Wilson?
Oct 25th, 2011 at 12:03 GMT
The JFK picture looks like a ventriloquist's doll, while Lyndon B. Johnson is Huckleberry Finn.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 12:04 GMT
@Dresser_John- Thanks for that info. I was so doubtful of it (despite the assertion's of Senator Craig's website) that I actually emailed the Grover Cleveland museum yesterday. For the time being I'll swap in McKinley's 18 year-old enlistment photo. (I've also contacted the McKinley presidential library to ask if they are aware of any earlier photos of him.) The change will take several hours though- only the admins can change this format and it's 5 AM in Seattle right now.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 16:16 GMT
Ok, change is made and we're now at 100% verified images (even though the new one is that president at age 18). Thanks for the feedback, everybody. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the quiz.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 17:44 GMT
I thought JFK's picture was a photoshop for a second. He didn't even change his haircut.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 20:48 GMT
Man, that Coolidge pic looks more current than the ones for Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Ford, and Bush.
Oct 25th, 2011 at 23:16 GMT
Eisenhower had hair once. I remember him bald and playing golf. I thought that's what the president did.
Oct 26th, 2011 at 00:12 GMT
that last one was pretty tough
Oct 26th, 2011 at 01:47 GMT
Eisenhower with hair!!!!
Oct 26th, 2011 at 03:02 GMT
Gerald Ford looks like one of the kids from "Village of the Damned"...
Oct 26th, 2011 at 03:28 GMT
Taft looked pretty good when he was young. I never would have guessed that he'd go on to need an extra-large bathtub installed in the White House.
Oct 26th, 2011 at 10:56 GMT
Johnson and Kennedy never changed.
Oct 27th, 2011 at 14:36 GMT
Hm, who could that black kid be...?
Oct 28th, 2011 at 01:28 GMT
I thought for sure that middle of the bottom row was President Beaver Cleaver.
Oct 28th, 2011 at 15:25 GMT
.......and people missed Obama...
Oct 29th, 2011 at 03:14 GMT
Hoover = adorable!!! Harding looks like he's in prison gear: how appropriate for such a sham. McKinley picture looks like "as played by a young Martin Sheen."
Oct 30th, 2011 at 18:42 GMT
I love how easy Clinton is to pick out.
