Small typo in Leguizamo. But it's a great concept for a quiz, and I'm kicking myself that I missed one of the LotR characters. (Alas.)

Thanks, Tahnan. The error was in the displayed answer only- the quiz was accepting the correct spelling.

A fun idea for a quiz. I think you missed Professor Mcgonagall (Maggie Smith) for HP, though. I was sure you were missing many others, like Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, but turns out they each missed one of the films. This was harder than I thought it would be, because I kept confusing the books and the movies.

Excellent work, Hejman. Funny that Goyle is in every film but not Crabbe. Isn't it because the kid who played Crabbe got arrested? On a minor note, could you accept Jadis for the White Witch?

@featherfish81- According to the Harry Potter wiki, Maggie Smith does not appear in Deathly Hallows Part 1. IMDB includes her in the credits, but having seen the movie twice, I can't recall her being in it anywhere. @LTH- You are exactly right. The actor who played Crabbe got arrested and they wrote him out of DH2. Thus the presence of another Slytherin in the Room of Requirement scene (Zabini, perhaps?). I'll add Jadis.

@Hejamn and LTH, Louis Cordice (Blaise Zabini) stood in for Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe) because he was charged with growing cannabis. I will watch through Deathly Hallows Part One later and comment if Maggie Smith appears in it, though I don't think she does... A great quiz though Hejman, I'd be suprised if this didn't reach the front page.

Like the quiz, but want to point out that The Lord of the Rings seems to be a different animal, as all three movies were made at the same time, so of course they were played by the same actors.

That's certainly true, DarkPhalanx, but the quiz isn't just about it being same actor, but rather about the characters appearing in each movie in the franchise. There are plenty of characters that appeared in only one or two of the LOTR movies.

Indy was also played by River Phoenix.

@Martin- Young Indy was played by Phoenix, but at no time was the role of Indiana Jones recast ala Albus Dumbledore, James Bond or Jack Ryan. The quiz asks for actors who "played the same character in each movie in the film franchise" and Ford fits that definition.

I tried Luke, Leia, and Han over and over and over, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why they weren't being accepted. Then I remembered there were Star Wars movies than just Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.

Actually, that raises a good point. Should I put the number of movies in the series next to the header (so that it would say, for example 'Star Wars (6)' or 'Harry Potter (8)')?

I'm a little confused. McGonagall is not on there because she's not in every film, but Lily is on there, and she is definitely not in every film. So, is this quiz about characters who appear more than once and are played by the same actor/actress? If so, shouldn't Maggie Smith be on it?
Hejman
:
Aug 18th, 2011 at 04:21 GMT

@TerraTheTerror- Lily IS in every film. That's why she's on there. In some films she's just in a wizard (moving) photograph, but Geraldine Sommerville appears in every film and is credited in every film, thus her inclusion on this list.

boromir threw me off in the lotr category. though i guessed ever other member of the fellowship, and i remembered at least one of the last two movies including a flashback of his death, i thought surely a character can't die in movie one and still be credited for the entire series. fail for me.

Its probably uncrdeited and in no way did I expect it to be on there, but didnt burt bacharach appear in all of the austin powers movies? Albeit just in the credits of the third one, I think he's in all of 'em. Maybe a bonus answer?

Why would Sigourney Weaver as Ripley be on here for the Alien movies? She didn't appear in AVP: Alien v. Predator or AVPR: Aliens v. Predator Requiem - and those are considered by IMDB to be sequels to Alien.

@Fidelio- Alien vs. Predator is a crossover series and so not part of the original Alien series which contains the four films Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection. This convinces me, though, that I should add the number of films to the header.

The number of movies definitely helps. I'd also put something in the instructions about how only films in the original series count - but I'm not sure how you define original series, because the Star Wars prequels are included. Maybe a disclaimer like, "Crossover series aren't included," with an example like Jason v. Freddy to explain what crossover series are?

Using Christopher Lee for LOTR is a cheat. He appeared only in the extended DVD version of "Return of the King", not the theatrical release, so he shouldn't count. If you're using the logic that deleted scenes count as appearances, then Rob Lowe should be included in the Austin Powers list, as he appears in IMOM only in the deleted scenes section of the disc.
