A couple of notes- the forced order is necessary because in several cases there were multiple important events in the same country. Also, I too would love for the images to be able to be larger and, if the admins ultimately determine to change the format of the quiz they will get a bit larger. Finally, I'd be interested in feedback on #17- It was an event that involved two countries (obviously, as both of their flags are in it). At the moment, the only correct answer is the country where that photograph was taken. Should I accept them both or just the one?

For 17 I would keep it as it is so the quiz remains consistent. I don't think there will be many people who will try UK and then give up without trying France.

Nice. The only one that I found difficult because of the size of the pictures was no. 9 - couldn't tell what's happening in the picture, and if there are flags they're too small to see.

What say you, Sporclers- should I do more of these for other years?

I'm pretty sure that in 1990 Milosevic was still president of Yugoslavia.
Sep 26th, 2011 at 13:47 GMT
I'm assuming the shot of Crystal as Lecter with Hopkins was at the Academy Awards at which The Silence of the Lambs won a bunch. The problem is that was 1992 (the film was released in '91).
Sep 26th, 2011 at 14:01 GMT
@NeerlandsHoop- Milosevic was President of Serbia (when it was a part of Yugoslavia) from 1989 to 1997 and President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (prior to it's breakup) from 1997 to 2000. As such, I've set the quiz to accept both Serbia and Yugoslavia as an answer. @pator- D'oh! That picture came up when I searched for the 1990 Academy Awards but, as you point out, SotL came out in '91 so the picture must be mislabeled. I'll swap it out.

Hejman: LOVE this quiz, LOVE the format, and yes to MORE. Re #17: I think I'd accept both. Re image size: as you know, I share your desire to see a better format for Sporcle image quizzes, so that we can rely upon details like the ones you want us to see here.

Nice quiz, I liked it and some flags helped (did not know the different colors of the Lithuanian flag back then though). One quibble: two US events, one being "hosting the Oscars", and no German reunification?
Oct 11th, 2011 at 13:50 GMT
@Ulkomaalainen- Unfortunately, I couldn't really find a photo to capture German reunification. I had one of two government officials signing the agreement, but it was not something that most people would have known as they were mid-level officials. I consoled myself with the fact that I'll definitely include the fall of the Berlin in a 1989 version!

@Melanie- If you can point me to a picture of the war in Rwanda that would be widely recognizable as being Rwanda, I'd be happy to use it.
