| @awc- There are two different versions. Both the Methodist hymnal and the Catholic hymnal residing in my house (and all three Christmas hymn books) have "Joseph dearest, Joseph mild, help me rock my little child." The alternate version is "Joseph dearest, Joseph mine, help me cradle the child divine." The latter version actually requires an alteration to the music to make the lyrics fit. @Rachelkachel- When Franz Gruber set Father Mohr's lyrics to music in 1818 he called the hymn, "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht" or "Silent Night, Holy Night". That remains the full title of the carol. @mb625- You're thinking of "Here I am, Lord" by Dan Schutte (1981). "Whom Shall I send" is a hymn with lyrics by Fred Pratt Green (1970) set to Genoble Antiphoner (1753) as adapted by Ralph Vaughn Williams (1908). |
