As much as I love 12 Angry Men, isn't that technically a jury room? I'm sure you know more than me when it comes to courtrooms, though.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 03:53 GMT
Good point, yes it is. I'll have to reword the instructions!
Sep 25th, 2010 at 03:54 GMT
Either that, or switch it out for Liar Liar.
Kidding of course.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 04:00 GMT
Nice quiz, except you have A Man for All Seasons twice. One of my favorite movies ever though.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 04:01 GMT
Good quiz. You've the same scene at both number 5 and 16 though.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 04:02 GMT
Sorry- from the time I noticed the repeat to the time I fixed it, two of you caught it commented on it! Both issues are fixed now, but it made 12 Angry Men much harder to get.

Stellar quiz, Hejman. Even more stellar that you included My Cousin Vinny. You tricked me, though, by having Philadelphia in black and white.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 06:01 GMT
i could be wrong, but it looks like there are no john grisham based films. i do think you should have at least one seeing as he's one of the most consistently good legal thriller writers. this quiz has set my mind alight actually. well done, good quiz.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 06:26 GMT
i agree there needs to be some grisham on here: runaway jury, a time to kill, rainmaker, etc.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 12:26 GMT
There's no obligation to include John Grisham. I do think that Breaker Morant is kind of obscure, though. If anything is going to be replaced, I'd rather see Primal Fear added to the quiz than a John Grisham movie.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 12:46 GMT
Ah, I probably should have noted that these movies were all on the American Bar Association's list of 25 greatest legal movies of all time.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 15:07 GMT
The fact that these were picked from a source makes the quiz even more interesting, IMHO. But it's definitely weird to have some of the screenshots of the modern movies in black-and-white.
Minor correction, as well: the title of the Pacino movie is "...And Justice For All", with a leading ellipsis (and, according to the IMDb, a final period). Which I didn't recognize, but I came up with and typed in, which makes it a good thing that you didn't have to answer in order...the answers are out of order? This WHOLE QUIZ is out of order!
Sorry about that.
Sep 25th, 2010 at 16:37 GMT
It's funny because many of the modern movies had black and white pictures on IMDB. I used them because I thought it added an interesting wrinkle to the quiz. I'll go add the ellipsis as an accepted answer.

And in case anyone is curious, the five movies I left out from the ABA list(and the reasons why): Erin Brockovich (couldn't find a shot inside a courtroom on the web and Netflix doesn't have that film available for instant download so I couldn't check it), The Paper Chase (law school movie- no courtroom scene there either), Reversal of Fortune (same issue as Brockovich), In the Name of the Father (same reason) and Compulsion. Frankly, the last I left off to keep the number at 20 and I had to pick between Compulsion, Breaker Morant and A Man for All Seasons as the ones that would be hardest to get.

That was an excellent quiz with a great distribution of movies. Don't listen to suggestions to change the content, you have done a great job. You can always do a follow up with lots of other choices.
Sep 26th, 2010 at 14:16 GMT
Great quiz. Also, I got them all right and am very proud of myself. So much so that I'm risking being voted down :). Seriously though, excellent job
Sep 27th, 2010 at 16:08 GMT
We, the jury, find this quiz to be guilty on the charge of being a 5 Orcle quiz! And sentence Hejman to write a sequel based on TV shows.
Oct 8th, 2010 at 00:23 GMT
Please consider "Vinnie" as an alternate spelling.
Dec 7th, 2010 at 21:31 GMT
turns out I don't really know any of these movies, but the idea is still very good.
Dec 10th, 2010 at 03:49 GMT
It's not fair that Philadelphia in a black and white photo. It threw me off.
Dec 28th, 2010 at 17:20 GMT
My Cousin Vinny... that was a great movie.
Feb 20th, 2011 at 19:53 GMT
I love that you included Breaker Morant. I hate that I missed it.
Mar 11th, 2012 at 22:00 GMT
What about Ghostbusters 2?
Jan 24th, 2013 at 15:19 GMT
I didn't see any reason for using b&w pictures on color films. Agree that a Grisham film would have been nice, as well as Adam's Rib. :)

By most of the screenshots I'd say "legal movies" aren't too popular these days.
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 19:08 GMT
What's with all the b&w stills from films that were in color (Philadelphia, A Civil Action, The Verdict, Breaker Morant)?
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 19:36 GMT
Seconded. They're not screenshots if they're edited to be b/w.

Extra orbs for including da two youts!!!

liar liar???? in the heat of the night?
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 20:55 GMT
This quiz would have been badass with a better selection of films and/or screenshots.
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 21:08 GMT
12 angry men sounds A LOT worse than a movie about a court.
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 22:30 GMT
No Legally Blonde?
Feb 3rd, 2013 at 23:41 GMT
@Emerald_Fusion: Because he had two arms. One was crippled/useless but it wasn't amputated or anything.
Feb 4th, 2013 at 00:17 GMT
Sorry, I thought you was corn.
Feb 4th, 2013 at 00:34 GMT
Great quiz! (Was hoping to see the original "Producers", but these are all great!)
Feb 4th, 2013 at 01:57 GMT
Awww, no Ghostbusters 2? Also the Philadelphia one threw me because it was B/W. Should've guessed anyway.
Feb 4th, 2013 at 02:07 GMT
Yep, Goldenbro. And damn Bing search for not pointing out my misspelling of "Judgement"!
