	I seriously hoped the last clue in word ladder 1 was SURE. But then I wasn't so sure it was sure, so I hoped it was hope and it was.

	I don't think HOPE corresponds at all with a feeling of confidence. As an Orioles fan, I hope they finish above .500 for the first time since 1997, but I am not confident they will.

	A berm usually refers to the mound of land at the side of a road - not the edge or shoulder. A berm blocks the road from houses, businesses, etc. for quiet and privacy.

	The clues for hope, ruts and berm are word for word from the definitions of those words in Webster's dictionary.

	Okay. But you're not listening to me. There are other things that need to be taken into account here. Like the whole spectrum of human emotion. You can't just lump everything into these two categories and then just deny everything else!

	I wouldn't necessarily say that hope is confidently expecting something, when one hopes they aren't very confident but its more of a wish. Besides that it was a fun one.
