Well... this one is definitely going to be harder for Americans. Comments, corrections, suggestions are always welcomed. The third version (which may not come for several days) will move back to North America.

They sure were. Fixed now- my apologies. Just a transposition in the data entry.

So I guess Rome can't be accepted for Vatican City? I guess they are legally different places now, but it's hard to think of them as different places from a practical and historical view.

Ohhh...I did sooo much better with the U.S.one. I've got to get out more often. Kudos to those who did well. I love the idea for the quiz. I'm ready for US edition part 2.

@WithShoes- The Holy See is not only a separate city, it's a separate country.

Good job on the choice of cities. Having some not quite as famous places in the mix made it much more interesting. Looking forward to as many sequels as you feel are feasible :)

I hate how the Popular Games Today text appears over #8. It doesn't really block anything it's just annoying.

What a marvellous idea for a quiz. Hope you can do a 'rest of the world' version. There must be enough recognisable areas in Asia, South America, Oceania and Africa to make it workable.

This was a pretty interesting idea. I like it. Had to look around on the map for clues. Good job Hejman!

@mrpotwtf69- that happens to image quizzes in the user section. I wish there was something I could do about it, but there isn't. @bazmerelda- I'm going to do one more North American version and then the "whole world" version you've suggested. @psubball1- thanks!

Great job! Definitely tried #15 for #8, and I've been to #8! Very challenging. I'd love another minute of time, and you should add some sort of Harry Potter inspired bonus for #3. Saint Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies.

@

: How about doing one with a larger scale roadmap with a few semi-obscure clues and it's the US state that has to be guessed? (That's how I envisioned doing quizzes like this.)

I'd say this one was much easier than first one (language clues really help) and I don't know very much about American cities, but both are great quizzes!

As an American, I found the European one to be about equally difficult-but the many German cities did get me.

It's so damn close that I can see the place I work in the top right hand corner of number 10. Funny quiz and definitely a good help with the varied languages and the clues with famous people/things from that city/country.

Glad to see cities like Bonn and Cannes on here in place of the usual cities like Berlin, Barcelona etc.

Nice quiz! It helps recognizing languages alphabets. Also would have thought Berlin would be here, I guessed it for like three different ones, haha.

I wonder if someone, seeing the "Calle Bembo" in Venice, guessed some Spanish city, thinking that "calle" is Spanish for 'street'. And indeed it is (see "Calle de Alfonso XII" in Madrid) but, quite strangely, also the streets of Venice are known as "calle", instead of the usual name of all streets elsewhere in Italy ("via").

Did the cities get changed since you first made the quiz? I apparently have now taken it twice and did leaps and bounds better the first time...

Ah... failed Stuttgart. Tried desperately to type Mannheim, since Karl and Bertha Benz built the first automobile there and the Benz-quarter is shown on this map.

All you need to remember for the 2nd least guessed: Beethoven = Bonn.

Excellent quiz - some very tough ones, although I got them eventually (so I should, considering that I've been to most of them!). It did occur to me that part of the Vatican map might have strayed into Rome, but after carefully scrutinising a map I found that everything shown in the picture does indeed fall within the Vatican's borders. @barnztormre all you need to remember for the least guess: festival in a French-speaking city = Cannes.

@emilkr: but present day Mercedes-Benz headquarters is in Stuttgart. If you look at a photo of a Mercedes in an ad you'll notice that always the license plate begins with an S, the code for Stuttgart (likewise, the photo of a BMW shows always a license plate beginning with M, the code for Munich, where BMW is located).

The Canal Grande in Venice reminded me that in Italian the word "canale" can mean: 1) a natural channel or strait, like the "Canale d'Otranto" between Italy and Albania, or 2) a man-made canal like the "Canale di Panama". When in the 1870s the Italian astronomer Schiaparelli said that he had seen "canali" in Mars, he meant "[natural] channels", but they were mistranslated as "canals", which implied "intelligent canal builders". That was the origin of the belief in "Martians".
