A few novelty signs in here and one (obviously) created for this quiz, but if you've seen any that you think should be added, let me know.

Out of all the signs there, the one that I'm most surprised to see, oddly, is the squirrel sign. Great quiz, and very unique.

accept everything in its singular form too

@jcdukecrzy- I had originally required plurals only for the ones where there was more than one of something in the sign, but you're right, that's confusing. They all accept the singular form now.

From where I'm sitting (and my angle could be poor) #18 looks like it could be any number of big cats, and #19 could be a poison symbol too. I did eventually figure both those out, however.

I agree the poison as well I kept trying that. And maybe it's just me but I kept trying mountain goat for number 14.

I like where you're sitting, hscer. I have several big cats as acceptable answers for #18, but not cheetah or leopard (hey it doesn't have spots or stripes!). Poison is a great suggestion for #19, though I'm not sure I want to go anywhere near a "poison crossing." I'll add it as an alternate, though.

@bugsnuts- mountain goats just have pointy horns, not the big rounded ones that Bighorn sheep have. Ram and Longhorn sheep are alternate answers there.

For cow, I'd also accept "cattle." I don't know WHY my mind went first to cattle, but they are equivalent... =)

@andrewd- I had steer, bull, bovine and yes, even "moo cow" in there, but not cattle. It's added now.

I struggled with #2. I tried a few answers (pedestrian, schoolchildren, etc.) before it took student as an alternative to pedestrians. The strangest crossing sign I've actually seen is in southern California, where they have "immigrant crossing" signs (you can find them on a google image search).

I must have pokemon imprinted in my mind from when I was a child because all I saw in #16 was a singular form of doduo

Thanks, godpaul25. I had children, kids, child and student in there but not school. That and elk have been added. @sporcloid- that's my fault. I forgot to put the singular 'pedestrian' in. I've corrected that now. Just checked out the immigrant crossing sign. It's quite alarming, what with the adult pulling the child along.

I thought about the correct answer to number 9, then quickly dismissed it, as being just plain stupid. Then tried various answers including: surfer, skateboarder and even sleepwalker !

This quiz is a joke, right?
Hejman

@HiddenPalace, I'm not sure I would call it a "joke" but it is in the "Just for fun" category and it is, in fact, just for fun. But no, it was not meant as a farce or as mockery of anything else. If it brings a brief smile to quiz takers' faces, then it has succeeded.

@JDass- Did you ever have something stuck in your teeth and no one told you about it? More than a thousand people played this quiz and you were the first to point out my typo in the title. Thanks for letting me know!

Here's a actual sign that is prevalent near San Diego, CA- "Immigrant Crossing": http://www.stopthenorthamericanunion.com/SubversionImages/CautionSign-IllegalsCrossing.jpg

@bmemering- Presumably any place that zombies were crossing the road would be a fairly terrible place to be, so I'll assume that's what you meant by your comment. It is, in fact, my favorite sign on the quiz.

Most of these are realistic, but I don't expect to see 9, 11, or 20 anytime soon.

@folio1701- that was my first thought too when I saw that. They are, in fact, footprints. @ig1234- I can see that too, but those would be geese with some awfully strange feathers on their rumps. @GeoExpert- I certainly don't hope to see 9 or 11, but #20 might as well be attached to my computer. (In fact, note to Sporcle Admin- merchandising opportunity!)
