| Having done Birds and Insects and Marsupials and Rodents and Primates, I've been meaning to do a more general 'Mammals' quiz but couldn't think how to get so broad a group into a quiz. Today it hit me- separate quizzes by continent. So... here's Africa. I'll do North America next and then Asia, etc. Enjoy! |

| @Hejman- good idea! (have fun with Antarctica?)...also, is there a reason for "buffalo" not being accepted? Or is African buffalo its common name? |
 | Hejman: | Aug 29th, 2011 at 11:45 GMT | | 5 points |
| @MasterPenguin- No reason at all. I'll add it. |
 | trivial: | Aug 31st, 2011 at 19:32 GMT | | 25 points |
| Do you think honey badger cares that most people can't identify him? |
 | Hejman: | Aug 31st, 2011 at 21:10 GMT | | 10 points |
| @trivial- It appears that the honey badger would happily gnaw the arms off of those people. |
 | slamb: | Aug 31st, 2011 at 22:26 GMT | | 4 points |
| Water buffalo? And maybe just mongoose. |
 | myb555: | Aug 31st, 2011 at 23:35 GMT | | 2 points |
| Great Quiz! I've had some ideas for picture quizzes, but i could never find out how to do them :( Oh , well. |
 | bazmerelda: | Sep 1st, 2011 at 00:34 GMT | | 10 points |
| Thanks for accepting Pumbaa. It gave me a giggle. |
 | Hejman: | Sep 1st, 2011 at 00:48 GMT | | 4 points |
| @slamb- Just 'mongoose' is already an accepted answer. The water buffalo is actually a different animal native to Asia (bubalus bubalis) while the cape buffalo (Syncerus caffer) is African and is pictured here. @myb555- Email me. I'd be happy to walk you through putting together a picture quiz. |

| I typed in white rhino and got nothing. Its a small thing, but maybe make it an alternative? Aside from that I really like this one. |
 | Hejman: | Sep 1st, 2011 at 05:47 GMT | | 3 points |
| @Dirk- I had rhino and white rhinoceros, but have added white rhino. Thanks for catching that. |
 | myb555: | Sep 1st, 2011 at 12:54 GMT | | 3 points |
| @Hejman, well it only occured to me after i made that comment to check the FAQs (I can't believe i didn't go there immediatly) and i know how. But thank you for the offer. |

Hejman, I'm concern you are my alter ego... |
 | Hejman: | Sep 5th, 2011 at 13:29 GMT | | 3 points |
| Yikes! Sorry, sufradley, I did a bunch of searches under "mammals" but not generally under "animals". |
 | Moldemort: | Sep 5th, 2011 at 20:51 GMT | | 4 points |
| Please accept both brown hyaena and hyaena - Just been on a research project in South Africa specifically studying them and that was the preferred spelling :) |
 | Hejman: | Sep 6th, 2011 at 03:29 GMT | | 4 points |
| I love it when I learn something from my own quiz! Thanks, Moldemort! |

| Great quiz! But I would suggest that "galago" be accepted as an alternate for the bushbaby. And in case anyone is curious, the baboon belongs to the "olive" baboon species (Papio anubis). |
 | Hejman: | Dec 29th, 2011 at 18:22 GMT | | 2 points |
| Galago is added, thanks. |

| Great quiz, Hejman! Animal quizzes are probably my favourite and I do like a challenging one like this. I'm planning on taking a safari guiding course after uni and working in Botswana, and this has really helped my withdrawal syptoms from the bush! |

| It's caught in between a ferocious lion and a man eating hippo, but the honey badger doesn't care. Honey badger dont' give a $%!% |

| it's the cast of the lion king! |
 | Hejman: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 18:33 GMT | | 16 points |
| I totally want a giraffe for a pet. Wouldn't that be awesome, just having a giraffe wandering around your back yard and nibbling on the neighbors trees? Everybody else out walking their dogs and you out walking your giraffe. I would definitely have a sign in the front window that said, "Beware of the guard giraffe." |
 | Mushu2: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 18:34 GMT | | 18 points |
| I lol'd when I saw the honey badger :D |

| I also love how you accepted Pumbaa for warthog :D |

| That's a wildebeest? Who gnu? |
 | dragoninforcer: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 18:41 GMT | | 10 points |
| Honey Badger don't care about being on this quiz. |
 | TrivialSteve: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 18:49 GMT | | 6 points |
| I went to school with Damara Dik Dik, but I don't want to talk about it. |
 | evandervos: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:11 GMT | | 16 points |
| This quiz is seriously lacking a bit of Timon, you can't leave poor Pumbaa on his own |
 | cmkeller: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:16 GMT | | 20 points |
| @evandervox: He's not alone - Simba is with him. |
 | Not_Shirley: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:22 GMT | | 3 points |
| I was waiting for "human"... :P |
 | PurppuraSuihku: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:23 GMT | | 8 points |
| 6,2% did not recognize lion.. |
 | sarahg678: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:29 GMT | | 13 points |
| I feel like you should've accepted water buffalo for African buffalo too. Great job though! :) |
 | Hejman: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:40 GMT | | 7 points |
| @Not_Shirely- 'Human' is in the previously published Primates quiz so I didn't want to reuse the answer. @sarahg678- Water buffalo are 'Bubalus bubalis' and found only in extreme northern Africa (and much more commonly in Asia). The animal shown here is 'Syncerus caffer'. Different genus, different species. |
 | MarciniakUCF: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:42 GMT | | 6 points |
| Accept Tyrann Mathieu as an answer? :D |
 | eab21: | Jan 25th, 2012 at 19:49 GMT | | 4 points |
| I was also going to make a Lion King/Tyrann Mathieu joke, but there are plenty of those already, so I'll just say that the Hippo is a wannabe Baboon. |
