Love it. Good to see 1776. That show has an hour-long stretch in the first half with no songs whatsoever, but you'd never notice or care because the dialogue is so much fun.

Very fun quiz! Looking forward to the sequel. Now I want to go watch The Sound of Music...my all-time favorite movie as a kid! Thanks for including it. :-)

JCS is technically not a musical, as there are no spoken parts, making it a (rock) opera. It's not a big enough deal to change anything about the already-great quiz, though.

@BrennanBooth and @danmerriman- 1776 is one of my favorite musicals, so it's inclusion was a foregone conclusion. @Bflat- If you want to get really, really technical about it, 'rock opera' is a made up term and the differences between opera and musical theater are blurry and are based much more on musical styling and range than on the simple matter of whether there are any spoken lines (some musicals have no spoken word and some operas do). Here's a great piece on the issue: http://countercritic.com/2009/02/27/about-calling-a-musical-an-opera/

Dang, I even was in a play version of all that jazz! No West Side Story? Isn't that a movie musical? Or am I mistaken, I know you can't fit everything, but it would be sense to have all live action movie instead of live actions and random Disney princess movie. Truly.

@MudKiip- See note above about sequel. See sequel. See West Wide Story in sequel. @YellowStapler- Thanks, that certainly is one of the harder ones, though I'm surprised that Yankee Doodle Dandy and Guys and Dolls are so low.

I really wanted "Little Shop," "Fiddler" and "Superstar" (or "JCS") to be valid answers, because those were acceptable names among the theater geeks I hung out with back in the day. Also, you kids, get off my lawn. :-) Awesome quiz and thanks for the nostalgia.

Thank you for including 1776!! One of my absolute favorites. For fans of it, get the DVD that also includes the restored "Cool Considerate Men", one of the best songs in the show! "Mama Look Sharp" has to be one of the most haunting songs in musicals.

I knew I would get 100% on this one! It may be silly, but I do love 'em -- Did you know that before the show 1776, Adams was largely ignored, and it really was the beginning of a renaissance of interest in him? Behold the power of art!
