| Disclaimer: I have always respected David Eckstein as a ballplayer for his hustle. He is just not a very good baseball player. @Theron Bucky Dent was pretty average too, but it's not like Eckstein was any better. I think Eck's career OPS+ is 100. That's the definition of the replacement player. And although he was a "perfectly fine" choice, he probably wasn't the best choice, given that there were three other players on his team- Pujols, Molina, and Rolen- who had higher World Series OPSs. Adam Wainwright would have also been a good choice with 3 relief appearances, no runs allowed, 1 win, 1 save, and a WHIP of 1. So Eck maybe wasn't the best choice. And also, he is the worst player out of all the World Series MVPs. |
