The idea for this grew out of hscer's 'Quotable Who' and ACL's eulogizer quiz. The first image I had in my mind was the one of Oswald and Jim Leavelle. By the way, Leavelle is a fascinating character in that he was not only handcuffed to Oswald when he was shot, but is also a Pearl Harbor survivor. Tom Brokaw does a great interview of him here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16096411/

If this is fun and well liked, I'd be interested in doing a sports version and a movie version. I'd love to hear your thoughts- to sequel or not to sequel?

Because they're not there yet! That's why the quiz says "QUIZ UNDER CONSTRUCTION" at the top. :-) Check back in a couple of days!

I wouldn't have expected this to turn out any different. As great as I thought it would be. A couple questions: why did you release it the other day unfinished in the first place? A technical matter, a mistake? And also, it may be good to force order so we can increase the size of the pictures and still see what we're trying to answer. But that's just a suggestion.

I was under the mistaken belief that releasing it unfinished was a technical necessity to get the image loaded correctly. I'd be happy to set it to forced order.

Very creative quiz. More sequels are a must. Ali defeated so many opponents, I couldn't come up with the right one. This quiz makes you think. I hope people come across this one.

Excellent (as always!). Do accept "Groucho" for "Marx", but other than that, no real complaints.

@Tahnan- Groucho is added. I had "Groucho Marx" and "Marx" but not "Groucho" by itself. @istalkblink182- I can put the pics in a grid and embed them, but only the Sporcle admins can set them up like this. @chelseah- Thanks!

Fabulous concept. I'd remove one of the two Roberts/Obama pictures, though (probably the Roberts one with the Obama answer - I like the other way around better) since they are a bit redundant.

@thedpr- Rather than being redundant, they make the point about the whole purpose of the quiz- to see things from the perspective of the person looking. I included them both partially to make that point, and partially just as a bit of a twist to make the quiz more fun.

I have to agree wiith thedpr re the redundant images. While I see your point, I think that point is made already, and the duplicates just feel, well, redundant. So many good images here, and great choices. I wish you would accept alternate spellings for Khruschev, since I tried multiple ones and finally gave up!

It is interesting that the reflection of Armstrong in Aldrin's visor is the only still picture of him walking on the moon.

Fine quiz. I just wish I could have remembered how to spell Khrushchev when I was taking the quiz. I notice the answer that comes up under the photo is also misspelled.

@BubbaD- Woah! Thanks for catching that extra 's' in there. Thank goodness I spelled it right in the answer section. Khrushchev is right up there with Yastrzemski. @KansasJayhawk- Thanks!

Excellent quiz. I always thought that shot of Ali was of a fight with Joe Frazier, not Sonny Liston. Good to know.

@loganite- Ali fought Liston twice, once in 1964 when he was still Cassius Clay and again in 1965. This photo is from the latter fight. Ali also fought Frazier twice, producing the famous clip of Howard Cosell shouting "Down goes Frazier!, Down goes Frazier!".

Down goes Frazier was in the Foreman fight. Ali beat Frazier twice, but never knocked him down. Ali went down (but not out) in the first Frazier fight. There were three Ali-Frazier fights, but the middle one isn't heard about much.
