In Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Turkey and Vatican City the Y is definitely a vowel. Not quite sure how it would be classified in Paraguay and Uruguay - it's part of the "uay" which represents a consonant-vowel combination. Anyone know more about linguistics than me?

I believe it's a vowel in Uruguay & Paraguay. The 'u' functions more as a consonant because it gives the "w" sound, whereas the "ay" is the long "a" sound. When 'y' occurs as the last letter in a word, I think it's always a vowel. A quick scan of the answers, I think "Yemen" is the only one where 'y' functions as a consonant. 5 orbs for the quiz though.
