If people enjoy this quiz, I'm planning on making this a series which will ultimately include every top-grossing movie since 1915.

The 2000 movie needed the full title (the sequel designation), unlike the 1989, 1991, 1995, and 1999 movies (also all sequels). You should either require full titles for each (my preference) or allow shortened versions for each. Just be consistent either way.

@amwoods13: All of my research indicates that the full title is "Mission: Impossible II", which is already what appears. I do accept shortened versions for that and many of the other movies.

Gotta love the days when the highest grossing movies were mostly original films. These days it's all sequels or comic book adaptations.

Not to be picky, but could you describe the source and type of record (domestic, worldwide)? I am sure that some of these were not the top domestic (North American) grosses for their respective years.

@Joe7287: I used Box Office Mojo, worldwide gross.

Why do I have to type "Mission Impossible II" but not "Terminator 2" or "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" or "Die Hard 3/With a Vengeance"?

@johnlk: I apologize, that was an oversight on my account. It has been fixed.
