No way man. Look, opinion-based sourceless Sporcle quizzes are bad enough as it is, but Yogi Berra over Carl Yastrzemski? Seriously? Yaz played 1000 more games, hit 100 more homers, stole 5 times as many bases, had 400 more RBI and 700 more runs, and had a better OPS and the same batting average. There's literally no basis, statistically, for picking Berra over Yaz. You're entitled to have an opinion, but Berra over Yaz? That one's flat out dumb.

I completely agree with the comment above. I kept typing yaz over and over again in complete disbelief. You really ought to do research before creating a quiz.

This guy's obviously a Yankees fan.

I know he hasn't worn 13 his entire career, but A-Rod is already an infinitely better player than concepcion was. You dont specify that it's the number a player wore for most of their career, so rodriguez should be a possible answer at 13. And this is coming from a die hard Red Sox fan.

I have to disagree with Rizzuto, a SS who only hit over .300 twice in his career, only broke 20 SB once, only 1588 hits and no power numbers at all, just off the top of my head Ron Santo would be a better fit, im sure theres more im not thinking of, quiz yankee biased

Look out Dimaggio. There's a guy named Albert on his way to taking the 5-spot. Don't believe me? Check out their stats...

Awful, I'm surprised you didn't put Roger Maris over Williams, shocker. Btw, there's already been a LEGIT quiz with numbers 0-99.

what stanvick said, and if Yaz don't cut it for you a fellow named Cal Ripken Jr. was a pretty good #8 too.
Dec 15th, 2009 at 18:48 GMT
First off, these subjective quizzes are ridiculous. That said, I disagree with you guys - I think Berra is more deserving than Yaz, considering positional value. And OF COURSE Yaz played in more games and accumulated more counting stats - longevity is a different game for a catcher. And Berra did win 3 MVPs. However Ripken may have been the best choice there.

you spelled mick schmidt wrong

I would personally put number 8 as Ripken, Berra, long pause, Yaz. Yaz was good, but he was largely a product of a friendly home park and he played an easy position. Heck, Dawson gives Yaz a run for his money. I also agree that A-Rod would be a better choice then Concepcion. A-Rod's last six years have been worth more then Concepcion's entire career.

You people need lives then leaving comments on peoples sporcle quizzes. I am not biased i typed into google best mlb players by number and this is what it gave me so all of u need to **** off and find some girl to stalk
Dec 16th, 2009 at 00:37 GMT
Then you should have given the link to your source. I googled what you said and all I found was a wiki page of retired numbers. I'd also take Berra over Yaz but I'd pick Bench over Dimaggio and take Schmidt over Robinson and Bob Feller over Gwynn. BTW, if you want to get people to like your quiz, calling them obscenities is not the way to do it.

I think I'm going to make a new Sporcle quiz: "Can you name all the grammatical mistakes and logical flaws in GoodnightJohnBoy's mini-rant?"
