	I started out naming all northeastern states knowing that they typically do well. Then I just guessed a random state; Kansas, and it threw out all of the patterns that I thought I knew before.

	If you look at the methodology of the source, it really should be best public school education not "smartest." Money spent on education and intelligence do not equate to the same thing. Also, why does the source leave out private school education? Maybe some states spend less on public school education because they give vouchers to private schools.

	I agree that, after looking at the 21 factors used by the source, that these are largely a collection of economic-based factors that are irrelevant to academic performance. The collection of states between Boston and Washington, DC are going to rank high on a survey like this for no other reason than they are high tax base and high tax states. When compared strictly on test scores or graduation rates, many of these states will be middle of the pack.

	I don't think this source is very accurate because no one considered 'smart' would willingly live in New Jersey.

	Just take the quiz for what it is..."Smartest States according to Morgan-Quinto (A State and City Rankings Publisher)" Check out the website..I just relayed their information but for their criteria these are the results.

	@chriscoooper: There are no states that have statewide voucher programs. There are some voucher programs in some municipalities, but nothing statewide anywhere.

	New Jersey is the ****tiest and worst state ever. They think they're cool because they're close to New York/Philly. Almost nothing is good in Jersey (except Six Flags). Anyone smart would move to NY, CT, PA, MD, or DE.

	I used the method of guessing which states usually think of themselves as being better than other states. I'm looking at you, CoolBeans, tgillman, Ecto2, etc...

	No racism intended, but, if you look at the demographics of these states they are among the highest Caucasian populations based off of percentages. Agreed the New England states are also highest among tax brackets. Imagine what they could attain if they would keep their budgets lower as the lower populated states (Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, etc.). Point being that heavily taxed large cities i.e. Detroit, DC, New Orleans, etc. do not necessarily correlate to "smartest cities". Just a thought.

	Ummm a better name for this is Best Average States. Or something along those lines. I mean New England traditionally has the better funded education and all, but California, Texas, and Florida really are "smart" as well, depending on definition. Their large populations make it hard to score high across the board, but if you look at the American Academics Olympiad Teams, meaning the smartest kids in America, they are mostly made up of kids from California, Texas, and Florida.

	I think alot of people are upset that their state is not listed but it is a fact that intelligent people and families usually end up migrating to these areas( Upper east coast and major upper midwest hub cities)

	Many of these states are only on here because they are (libeal,) small and urban-the urban centers being home to major companies, vesus rural areas, which have far less high tech jobs.

	washington and oregon also have very conservative rural populations in the eastern parts of the state hence their absence on this quiz
