@Minkin: Ankara is in the part of Turkey that's wholly in Asia. Istanbul straddles the continental divide between Europe and Asia.

Turkey is in Asia, excpet for the tiny part of Istanbul that you can hardly see on a map. I thought Oslo and one of the German cities with a letter "d" would make it.

even by the figures on the site you gave as a source zagreb is larger than "zaporozhia/zaporozhye"

Gave up after getting pissed off over Athens too, but checking it up it says 745,000 as in the city, and over 3 million with the entire urban area, so I guess this is correct, but irritating.
