| This is a good idea for a quiz and it is generally well executed. However, I strongly question the inclusion of La Guajira, as there is little--if any--evidence that this is a desert. The listed source is a map which neither symbolizes nor annotates a desert on La Guajira peninsula. Since no textual source is listed, I surmise that the author used Wikipedia's "List of deserts" article in preparing the quiz. I had noted this article's inclusion of "La Guajira Desert" several months ago while doing my own research on deserts. However, there is no record of it in the GNS and I could not find a single atlas or gazetteer that mentions it. If someone can point me to a credible source that validates the existence of this desert, I welcome the opportunity to be enlightened. But I'm pretty sure this is an example of Wikipedia (and now Sporcle) leading people astray with erroneous information. |
