In general, smaller coastal bodies of water (bays, bights, channels, gulfs, and passages) are considered to be part of seas, and seas are ultimately considered to be part of oceans. In this particular case, the Gulf of Aden is a part of the Arabian Sea and the Arabian Sea is part of the Indian Ocean.
I originally made the same mistake Darcita did. I read Arabian Sea and immediately started trying to enter countries bordering the Persian Gulf. Strange. |
