Yet another football quiz that ignores 100+ years of history before the Premiership.

Excellent quiz. Perhaps longshanks wants to complete the list for all-time.

Hah, yeah people seem to think its their god-given right to have these quizzes tailored to perfectly suit them. The reason Premier League is used so much is simply down to the fact that data is not readily avaliable or easily accessable on the internet for pre-Premiership football. Theres a certain little button called 'create' at the top of your browswer longshanks...

Longshanks is a cretin who appears unaware of how long this quiz must have taken to make. Top effort!

I find it quite funny (for the lack of a better word) that Henri Camara is the top scorer of TWO teams.

@Majestetti: In fairness he was redhot for a couple of seasons! I find it strange that (for the moment) Jody Craddock makes the list!

To Madeira, such a legend on Champ Manager. Would like to see Maxim Tsigalko and Tonton Zola Moukoko for a similar reasons!

An excellent quiz, a lot of effort went into this. However I think you missed Juninho for Middlesbrough.

@jdavey: Nope, according to statbunker he scored 18 goals for Boro- behind the three listed above, Yakubu, Hasselbaink, Boksic and level with Deane and Maccarone.

Fantastic quiz, Freddie! I worked on the same one a few months back, but that awful lot of work just outgrew me. Great, great job. May it be published!

however, I gotta agree with jdavey on Juninho. He's definitely in the top three for Boro. You could miss some data as he had three seperate spells there.

According to the official Premier League site, Juninho (listed as Osvaldo Juninho Paulista) scored 29 Premier League goals for Middlesbrough during his 3 spells there. http://www.premierleague.com/page/PlayerProfile/0,,12306~7814,00.html

p.s. Juninho has been added. Thanks for all who pointed it out, it was originally an error with my source Statbunker who listed Nemeth as the third highest goal scorer.

Can't believe how many defenders are on here. Granted they are mostly on one hit wonder teams, except for Scharner.

An update mainly for those Scholes fanboys out there (14th March). Cameron Jerome enters quiz, Heskey and Morrison now share slot.

I've released a sister quiz to this- the same format, but appearances. It's a lot tougher than this one for those that like a challenge. It's on my profile.

Quiz updated to start of 10/11 season. Craig Fagan added and rest of stats updated to reflect end of 09/10. Will update (and include Blackpool) once we're a few months into the season.

Chris Brunt should have an asterix now West Brom are back in the Premier League (or you could just wait another year and the point wil be moot).

Great quiz. Beattie has now left, so doesn't need an asterix.

@ the homepage subheading: no it isn't! It's much easier to name someone who's scored 174 goals than someone who's scored 10, I imagine quite a lot of people couldn't name a single Barnsley player for their season in the Premiership whereas Arsenal's top 3 scorers are three of the most famous players in Premiership history.

Abdoulaye Faye has 6 for Stoke. And yeah, Brunt needs an asterisk

@rm321: I think the homepage subheading is refering to players getting into the list not people naming them. Saying that, it's still probably wrong because it's unlikely Barnsley will be playing in the Premier League again anytime soon.
