LOL, just noticed your source link! Thanks for the mention, but I should point out that my inspiration for that quiz came from biner and his "Once in each XX country" quiz series (http://www.sporcle.com/user/biner/contributed), which introduced the idea of border paths to me. And it was a comment by thedpr in one of those quizzes: "A world-wide version would be amazing, incidentally. Use France to go from new world to old." that led to the creation of the first world-wide quiz of this sort (that I know about). Perhaps my only contribution was in helping (with thedpr and yourself) to come up with 128 as the maximum number of countries possible under the rules of this type of quiz.
I hope more of these quizzes are created. There are other countries to start with in South East Asia. Or one could start in the Arabian peninsula (but it may not be possible to reach 128 countries starting from there). One possible area of exploration would be to relax the "visit a country only once" rule or replace it with a "cross a particular border only once" rule. The implications would have to be worked out, of course. |
