Can't believe I missed Venice! Good quiz though!

I think the source somewhat misinterprets the meaning of the data. Frankfurt is not a destination city. It just has a big airport, so lots of tourists arrive in Germany at Frankfurt and then transit to their destinations by car and train. Frankfurt isn't really their destination. That said, it is a good quiz!

good quiz, but i think it should be a minute or two less...if you know your european cities you can pretty much type in dozens before 6 minutes is up

I would imagine that seaside towns such as Blackpool, Brighton, Benidorm, Marbella and suchlike should be on this list. Checking Wikipedia, Blackpool claims 10million visitors per year. I can't find figures for the others.

Most of these geography quizzes include Russia in Europe. No need for name calling. It's Sporcle for crying out loud.

Moscow and St Petersburg are in the European part of Russia. Asia starts east of the Urals.

I'm surprised there isn't Vatican City, but London nearly twice more tourists than London, I don't think so.

coyotesfan2342, Moscow and Saint Petersburg are in Asia. Before calling someone a moron, try and get your facts straight, you idiot.

It has been said before - Vatican City is missing. While airport cities like Frankfurt are hard to judge, this is a clear factual error (of the source). The Sistine Chapel itself would make the list, were it a city...

@RJMurphy: Dear Murphy, you are an idiot. Your facts are not straight. Moscow (the largest city in EUROPE) is in Europe. St. Petersburg, (being west of Moscow) is also in Europe. Have a nice day. Anyone else who disputes this fact is also an idiot. I don't know how some people can be so dumb...

This is a solid quiz, though I would have to wonder how the source excluded the Vatican, unless for purposes of their research they consider it part of Rome (which of course it is not ... because the Vatican is in Australia).

Yeah, gotta put in Vatican city. @France and Murphy, if you guys actually played on this site long enough (and if you actually had brains) you would know that Moscow and St. Petersburg are not in Asia, dimwats.

i agree with the comments about transit. few people actually visit frankfurt for the point of tourism. it's a major transit airport. i believe same could be said of a few other destinations.

Vatican city's numbers probably contribute to Rome. I expected Venice to be higher and I expected a Croatian city, as it seems Croatia is 'the' summer destination for Europeans.

I'd say Spain and Greece are the summer destinations for europeans. Surprised Paris isnt #1 though
