Please rate/comment. A minor note as well, this list does not include heads of state who are billionaires (Berlusconi, Sultan of Brunei etc...)

I too was surprised at the lack of Zimbabwe when I made this quiz. But considering it costs one billion dollars to buy a groceries in that country, it wouldn't matter.

I liked it, but it should probably be titled, "Countries with Billionaires," because every country with a billionaire is listed, not just the ones with the most. Just a minor thing.

403? Criminy! @Ney, I was surprised at the same thing. Qatar was an early guess for me. So was Monaco, turnip. I figured billionaires would try to get residency there for the tax breaks. I guess its not that easy.

Well, I just took down the country of residence for every billionaires listed in Forbes. It could be that there are no billionaires living in Monaco/Luxembourg/Qatar and just lots and lots of millionaires. I can't think of a more official ranking of the world's billionaires than Forbes, unless someone has another source they're willing to share with me.

I'd be interested to see the ranking on a per-capita basis too (or instead). It is much more impressive that UAE has 4 than China having 64. Just a suggestion; I don't know if you'd have to do that math yourself or if you could find an easy source for it. Good quiz.

Regarding Zimbabwe, Forbes converts each person's worth in USD. So, this is a list of persons who are worth atleast a billion USD. Hence, no Zimbabwe. And @France has already mentioned that it has no head of states, hence no kingdoms and sultanates like Qatar, Bahrain or Monaco.

@France: Are you sure you did it right? Because, looking through the lists on the Forbes site, I see four billionaires living in Monaco. Denmark is also missing (two billionaires according to Forbes) and a lot of the numbers in this quiz seem off - for instance, I'm counting 27 billionaires in Switzerland, not 11. Is there something I'm missing?

I took down the numbers from the wikipedia list which appears to be faulty. I am going through the Forbes list again and making some changes. Thanks for the pointers.

Alright, I have altered the quiz quite a bit. It appears that one of the sources I used did not use the updated March 2010 Forbes list to count its billionaires. I've added and changed a few countries. Again, please feel free to comment on things I mucked up/missed.

Does anyone find it unfair that India, the poorest country to have such a large population, also has the fourth-most billionaires out of all the world's countries?

I would like to see how many of Russia's billionaires are legitimate and how many were just thieves that stole from the people during the privatization schemes of the 1990's. It wouldn't surprise me if many of the other billionaires on this list are also crooks.

Great Quiz, I think it should be a little less time, or renamed to "Guess a populated country."

I think it would be improved by using a higher threshold, like 5 which would bring it down to about 30 countries total. That would reduce the 'guess any country' effect. Also, I think your updates have messed up your rankings (looking at the count for #37 and #42/43).

Thanks. Yeah, for some reason when I try and update, it likes to change numbers on certain lines even though I haven't clicked anything. I will raise the threshold to increase the quiz's difficulty. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Update #2: I've increased the threshold to 4 billionaires so that this doesn't turn into a "Guess the countries that have over 10 million people" kind of quiz.

France, I think 4 seems a little arbitrary, and it should probably be reflected in the game instructions. Why not do at least 10?

Or the top 20--that seems to create a nice natural break. By the way, your ranking is also off. You should see two countries tied for 14th, 16th, and 18th places
