| @brobert2: This list is based on the books that LibraryThing members (and there are nearly 900,000, so it's at least a large sample) list on their shelves. That means that if some people list "Lord of the Rings" and others list them individually, both will appear. I actually deleted the "correct" 97th book, which was " " (an error derived from people just entering a blank space in the title field), but it's really whatever people claim to own, in whatever way they put it in. As for the Bible- I'm guessing many (or most) people on librarything do own it, but just choose not to list it in their online catalog. In listing my own books, the Bible isn't necessarily one I would think of- it's kind of in a different category than my general fiction, which is what most people use LT for.
I think LibraryThing is an interesting source for a 100 books quiz, since it's what people actually have (admittedly minus the Bible) rather than what they think is "best." Should be a bit easier, and maybe more honest. |
