Very hard... Maybe a bit too hard... But still fun.

I really liked this for a good challenge, but you have to know your leaders. I got super lucky and hit 3 of the 5 of them on the first shot. If you had picked countries like Australia, France or Germany, I wouldn't have even known what to do, so great job!

For Presidents, when you type Grant, nothing happens. Also, just a question, when using the names that have been multiple presidents, both names dont always show up. It makes sense to only show one for Bush and Adams, and conversely, both for Roosevelt and Johnson, but then the guy we're guessing has the same status in regards to both Harrisons, and they show up twice. Just a bit strange is all. Still love the quiz, and like sprout, I was lucky enough to guess 2 on the first try.

Thanx all for the above comments. After an initial '1 globe' I thought I'd misjudged this one completely. @y2jdilemma:, Grant was a misplaced '/' and is fixed ! I also think I've fixed the others, please let me know if I havn't.
Sep 27th, 2010 at 14:11 GMT
Nothing happens when you type Salisbury.
Sep 27th, 2010 at 14:24 GMT
@Aaron_Kashtan. Fixed...and very impressed !
Sep 27th, 2010 at 18:14 GMT
Two of these I got by naming the first premier I could think of. The Canada one, I named the only PM I knew and when it wasn't him I had to give up.

Hard? I finished with 3:40 left.

Coincidentally, "Warren G. Harding is correct" is one of the least-used sentences in American history.

wow as if i know of any israeli leaders besides rabin because i went to school with his grandson, so i got 3 of the others. and also for canada i was unable to make "jean chretien" appear
Sep 27th, 2010 at 22:35 GMT
anyone else think its funny that more people get gorbachev than harding?
Sep 28th, 2010 at 00:45 GMT
Well, Gorbachev is one of best known Russian leaders, especially because of Reagan's speech, while Harding is one of the most forgotten American presidents unless you're really into the Teapot Dome Scandal. Cool quiz, I like this style.
Sep 29th, 2010 at 03:16 GMT
Need to accept Chretien for Chrétien; I had to google it to get it with the accent

@ TJL Thanx, you've taught me something. @LTH Thanx, I've been trying to think of a 'history one' for a while. Glad you enjoyed it.
Sep 30th, 2010 at 01:54 GMT
Wow, apparently I'm the only one who thought this was a bit too easy... One thing, though - you didn't accept given names (i.e. I tried "John Tyler" and nothing came up until I retyped just "Tyler.") I liked the idea a lot though :D
Oct 4th, 2010 at 02:22 GMT
Technically the title is British Prime Minister. I liked the fact that some were harder than others, a good mix. Good quiz!
Nov 11th, 2010 at 00:31 GMT
Loved the quiz. Finished it with 3:43 left. Now if I could just figure out how to cash in on knowledge of major power leaders. Hmmm.
Nov 19th, 2010 at 21:48 GMT
I'm American! How on earth do you expect me to know any leaders of Canada??
Nov 21st, 2010 at 00:22 GMT
Good quiz, personally I lucked out that one of only three British Prime Minister's I knew was right and the only Prime Minister of Israel I knew turned out to be right.
May 6th, 2011 at 08:10 GMT
Good quiz. I knew all the US, Russian and UK leaders (in order) so it was just a case of trial and error with them. However, I only knew one Canadian and Israeli leader. Shame it wasn't Rabin or Harper

I think i got most of the hints, but only one of the actual answers. Fun quiz!

@emn8: You raise a perfectly valid point, but I think you're the only Sporcler who actually types full names for U.S. presidents.
Jun 18th, 2011 at 16:18 GMT
Man, I got lucky. I know my US presidents, so that wasn't a problem. Russian leaders was gonna be tricky because of the spelling, so I'm glad it was one I could spell AND remember. Israel I just happened to get on the first try; I could've come up with a few more, but definitely no one too obscure. Britain I kind of know, but again if it had gotten obscure (or too far back) I would've been SOL. And Canada...Canada, I hate to admit this, but I thought I could only remember one PM - Trudeau. When it wasn't him, I was like, I'm not getting this one - sorry, Canadians! I'm sorry to be an ignorant American! But then I remembered one other (had to futz around with the name a bit), and I hit the jackpot. So yeah, definitely lucky. Fun quiz!
Jun 18th, 2011 at 16:19 GMT
I don't think I could name a Canadian PM other than the other that was the right answer here.
Jun 18th, 2011 at 16:34 GMT
Anyone else only get Brian Mulroney because of "Let's Go To The Mall" from HIMYM?
Jun 18th, 2011 at 21:18 GMT
The only Canadian PMs I can name is the current Stephen Harper and former Trudeau. Quiz bowl set of mind.
Jun 19th, 2011 at 00:54 GMT
When it the Israeli leader wasn't David Ben-Gurion, I just hoped to God that it was Golda Meir.
Jun 19th, 2011 at 03:52 GMT
Even though its after both Harrison's, you should list them both like with Roosevelt just to avoid any confusion.
Jun 19th, 2011 at 12:08 GMT
Probably the first time in the history of Sporcle that any other country's leader has been correctly identified more frequently than the US's. When I guessed Wilson for the US clue I was surprised to see it come up for the UK too... I'd forg
Jun 19th, 2011 at 14:29 GMT
When got to Israel, I typed Begin to begin, but I was told it was before begin which is, after all, impossible.
Jun 19th, 2011 at 17:52 GMT
i typed pretty much every US president except for Harding, and I still didnt get it in the end, but I managed to get Meir and Gorbachev on the first hit.
Jun 20th, 2011 at 05:00 GMT
great quiz. I managed to finish with :37 left. Somehow managed to get Major and Meir and the first one. Couldnt get Canada to save my life though :/
Jun 20th, 2011 at 06:10 GMT
Fun! Would LOVE to see more quizzes like this! Presidents was a great one because I typed "Roosevelt" so I immediately got the prompt that he was "After Theodore Roosevelt, before Franklin Roosevelt". Like some previous Sporclers, I also only knew Trudeau and Harper :/ Though I kept trying to type Mahoney and Maloney...so close!
Jun 20th, 2011 at 18:45 GMT
Surprised so few people got the Canadian PM. Or maybe not so surprised, considering how many Canadians can name more US Presidents than Canadian PMs. I mean, I'd expect that from Americans, but we really ought to be ashamed of our own lack of knowledge about our own country. Still, you'd think more people could name a PM who was in office within the last 20 years.
Jun 21st, 2011 at 16:55 GMT
I'm woefully ignorant of my Canadian PMs, and got dang lucky on British PMs. If it had been anyone after Thatcher, other than Churchill or Chamberlain, I would have been toast.
Jun 21st, 2011 at 17:25 GMT
@grover173: Erm, Churchill and Chamberlain came before Thatcher
Jun 25th, 2011 at 00:42 GMT
thank you for putting the only Canadian prime minister I could think of (because of Robin Sparkles of course!)
Jun 30th, 2011 at 21:59 GMT
I was hoping to get some home advantage on Canada, perhaps a more obscure PM. I started at Mackenzie King, tried Campbell and sighed when I realized I had no advantage with Mulroney.
Jul 6th, 2011 at 11:57 GMT
I need to learn more about the chiefs of state of America's neighbors. I too guessed the only Canadian PM I could think of, and was surprised when it hit. I really like your comedian exports, though, Canada!
