The Spanish ones are difficult due to the large number of countries with people who have surnames in that language...

Sri Lanka? That's REAL odd.

Agree with HiddenP, plus you don't even know which countries are included. Maybe with a list of the countries to match it'd been better. There's no way I was going to guess Sri Lanka.

The most "popular" surnames? It's not as if you choose your surname - the most "common" surnames must be more appropriate?

Sri Lanka has a larger population than several countries here, so it's really not that odd.

the most surprising thing to me is Li being the most common surname in Canada. I know there's a large Asian population but I thought it was mostly limited to Vancouver and Toronto. That there could be enough to make Li the most popular name is really amazing to me.

When I clicked the link, I got a different list for Canada: Lee, Smith, Long.

The Sri Lanka answers are strange. When you look at the link, only De Silva of the 'right' answers is quoted. Certainly Perera is a hugely common name there, and would have given a decent clue.
