@Tahnan: thanx I've changed the game into this ...

But so many of these are so obviously spurious. "There was a crooked man" was, per Wikipedia, first recorded in the 1840s, making it really unlikely to be about the 17th-century King Charles I. Their explanation of "Rain rain go away" doesn't even make sense--why would the English have a nursery rhyme celebrating the way the rain helped them defeat the Armada that tells the rain to go away? And really the most of the rest of them are just as unlikely, generally theories made up without evidence long after the fact (other than the ones that are obviously necessarily based on things, like the gunpowder plot).

@Tahnan: the link seems pretty comprehensive and professional. Obviously nobody really knows about these things, so I'll let it go. I've changed the word 'possible' to 'attributed' in the game heading.

Love this, Flick! Would "ring around the rosey" qualify? That has a "fun" origin!

@giveupyet: sure thing I've exchanged it for one of the more difficult ones.
