| What a fun concept for a puzzle. Kind of bummed about the low hit rate for Aureliano Buendia. I mean for his nephew--sure. Power-hungry lunatic. (or was that his son, grandson, or a cousin? I think two characters were named that. May have to re-read it--again.) He's so central to a pretty epic book. Gregory Rabassa, the translator (into English) lived in a friend's apt building in NYC and when there was a doorman strike and all the owners rotated shifts at the door, he was the doorman when I visited once. I got a kick out of that. My big brush with greatness--the translator of a book I love. |
