You have one too many asterisks for the January 9th clue. A very enjoyable quiz.

For the 12th, it should read "The first _-___ shows a hand with a bullet in it". The s at the end of show is necessary to make it clear.

The clue for the 5th is badly worded - maybe "Construction on the Golden Gate ______ begins" or something along those lines?

Please fix the one saying Samuel Morse because he demonstrated the telegraph in 1833 not 1933 ^_^

Great quiz, and I noticed the Samuel Morse error, too. Don't know when the telegraph was invented but wasn't tv demonstrated at the 1939 World's Fair?

Columbus must've been confined on that boat for quite a while if he thought a manatee was a mermaid.

A bullet? I remembered that the first X-ray image was one of the hand of Röntgen's (the discoverer) wife, wearing a ring. I've just looked it up in Wikipedia ("X-ray" page) and the picture is there. And it's a little earlier (Dec 22, 1895).

@dancastro: the date was in fact the first published x-ray, I've changed the question. thanx
