Brilliant! Great poem, and very nicely suited to the format. Typos: a missing word, “…and never breathe a word
about
your loss…” , and I think you may have “single letter answers” turned off or something, since “a” was only accepted with a space after it.

@Pit_trout: thanx, yip I did have "single letter answers” turned off, but cannot understand why 'about' didn't work it seems to be OK now. Also, thanx for the other day for the geography alert, much appreciated.

impostors should be imposters and I believe the line is "... lose and start 'again' at the beginnings..."

@dragon86: I've double checked and impostors seems to be legit, but both are now accepted. I've added 'again' and as I was trying to get as close to the new upper limit of 300 words as possible, is another small step closer.

I guess Rudyard Kipling's "If" isn't David Gates' source for his lyrics in his band Bread's song of the same name. Too bad for me... I got IF, A, and then gave up when the word PICTURE didn't work. I like this poem, though. I don't think I've ever read or heard it before. That's a lot of IF's to be a man :)

would it be possible to have 'them accepted for the 'em at the end of verse 2? I know 'em is correct in the poem, but it is short for 'them'!
