	Is there a reason "Northwest" isn't accepted for "Northwest Territories"? You don't require "Sea" after Adriatic, Caspian, etc.

	I assumed Northwest Territories had been renamed, since Northwest was not accepted. Turns out it's apparently an oversight.

	@ogle5431: Yes, the French département of Guyane (usually called French Guiana in English) borders Brazil. It, like the islands of Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion and Mayotte, is an integral part of France, much like Hawaii is an integral part of the United States.

	According to Wikipedia, the origin of the name Cyprus is unknown but one possible etymology is the Greek word for the Mediterranean cypress tree. (Okay, it also should be noted that the reason I immediately guessed it was because I never knew that the tree and the country were spelled differently until just now.)

	A few years back Smithsonian Magazine had a great article on the #1 country, and why its wood was so sought after--so much so that the entire nation was considered extremely valuable. Violin bows. I kid you not. Sort of a musical cold war and nobody wanted to be at the wrong end of the violin bow gap. And DANG, after reading all those Aubrey/Maturin novels, and still I miss so many seas!!!

	@laschmela: oversight corrected @sennomulo: last question changed, though I tried to maintain the link. @strags11: The most likely origin of Cyprus is kypros (meaning copper) though other guesses include kypros (henna), Kypros, the child of Kinyras, the town of Kypros and Kypris (a variation on Aphrodite) and as you mentioned the cypress tree. It is now a bonus.

	This is 7 seas, as per the time the category was used in practice. Back in the day, they referred to the modern day Persian Gulf as the Persian Sea.

	@gargarale: Oh, I would answer Denmark if I was asked _which country_ has an island in that region. And French Guiana isn't the name of the country, it's the name of the province, the country is France. It's similar to why Alaska is a wrong answer when asked about countries bordering the Bering Strait.

	I can't believe Tajikistan isn't a Turkic state. After Turkey and Turkmenistan, I immediately tried all the other stans surrounding the latter only to find 3 of those 4 correct! After that I was too distraught to think of the real 6th answer. Great quiz though.

	France is such a cheap answer. My brain doesn't work that way. Really liked the Australian cities part, though. Also loved that Cyprus gave me two bonus answers. Oh, and I also loved that I was able to determine the Turkic countries after thinking, "well, this is Sporcle, and if Kyrgyzstan is going to be an answer, it'll probably be here."

	I was missing france for the bordering brazil, so I thought about typing in brazil to border itself, but thought it would be stupid. If only I knew more about trees

	You know I don't think 'Northwest' alone should be accepted. Northwest Territories is the actual name of the territory. I don't think the comparison with accepting the seas without 'sea' doesn't, ahem, hold water (rimshot).
