Excellent quiz. I've always wondered why Chad isn't in the League when Djibouti and Somalia are. Arabic is co-official in all three but seems to be more widely spoken in Chad, and it seems like a lot more Chadians self-identify as Arabs than do Somalis. Maybe it's political...

Everyone should at least get Saudi Arabia.

^Not necessarily. Someone might pick a wrong answer before they get to that.

I just realised that I do not know enough about Lebanon. I always thought that the majority was Christians and that was the reason why they struggled to get along with the rest of the Middle East. I've now learned that it used to be a Christian majority but that they're all emigrating. I guess that explains why there are Lebanese communities everywhere, from Australia to Ghana.

Isn't it the (de jure) State of Palestine, represented by the PLO, that is an Arab league member, not the Palestinian Authority? They are quite different things, in terms of international law.

Eritrea and India are also observing states, and, interesting enough, so are Brazil and Venezuela, due to their large Arab communities.

@skaara: do not mix up "Arab" with "Muslim". One is an ethnicity, defined mostly via language, one a religion - so you can easily be an Arab Christian in the same way that you can be a Zulu Buddhist. It may not happen too often but it is in no way contradictory. And many of the Christians in Lebanon are Arabs.

Picked Iraq and then went for Iran. Big mistake.

Not sure why this needs to be a minefield. Seems like a cheap ploy to get extra plays.

I would rather the wrong answer didn't end the game too - that way at the end, even when I miss the last few, I can learn the ones that I didn't know.

There are currently only 21 members. Syria has been suspended from the Arab League since November 2011 because it failed to stop violence against civilian protesters.

Ah... I only missed the last one - Somalia. Now I've learned something.

You should add Kyrgyzstan as an option.

@toucan, because it's the ARAB league, of course it has to be... haha sorry that was horrible :P

Arab league sounds like a Middle-Eastern Superhero group like the Avengers

First play, first guess: Iran. Second play, first guess: Iraq. There was no third play.

Most people from Iran would actually be somewhat offended if you called them Arabs. Most of them are Persian, not Arab.

This quiz is easy if you've lived in Israel. "List all the place you can't go to!" ...plus Jordan and Morocco.
| ClintT13: | Sep 26th, 2012 at 16:34 GMT | | 20 points |
@WyattsTorch: Why did you quit after clicking Iraq on your second play? It's one of the correct answers. Sounds to me like you accidentally clicked Iran both times.
| WyattsTorch: | Sep 26th, 2012 at 18:36 GMT | | 1 point |
@ClintT: Wow, you must be right. Looks like there was a third play after all...

Grrr. I could have sworn Morocco had left the Arab League in the 80s, but that was the African Union.

Those quotation marks should not be in the title. It's called the Arab League, not the 'Arab League'! They are wrong, and I don't see what you're trying to convey there. Otherwise a fantastic game.
