I have to be honest: I just laughed my ass off. And I don't mean Internet "LOL"s- I mean that I was literally cackling. I honestly think your other two quizzes of this ilk (regarding Hejman and SproutCM) are completely off-base, and your accusations against Hejman are particularly ridiculous. Keep in mind, these guys have bigger things to worry about than whether or not their games are Editor's Picks- Sprout is a college professor, and... well, I don't know if he's shared his profession on Sporcle, but Hejman has a pretty important position in his field. They don't exactly have sleepless nights stressing out about how many plays their quizzes get; they make quizzes because they enjoy creating them and enjoy giving other people some fun. I happen to know that they're both extremely kind, extremely intelligent people, and they're far from deserving of your criticisms.
The critique of me, on the other hand, is- well, it's not completely spot-on, but it sure doesn't hurt to mention the show, and what you said about me is certainly more accurate than what you said about the other Editors. I think, perhaps, you don't realize what kind of effort we put into being Editors- we play almost every single quiz in our categories. We read and respond to comments constantly. We choose games to make Editor's Picks. We update already-published quizzes that need to to reflect more recent information. We scan the entire site (not just our respective categories) for games that are offensive, in poor taste, or are oft-repeated so that they can be removed. We email the site's creators to tell them about great quizzes (and, while I can only speak for myself, most of the time I do that, I'm not talking about my own games). And we do it all for free, simply because we love the site and believe in it- because want to create a great environment in which everyone can have fun. |
